Well fortunately, John W Henry isn't Roman Abramovich who just buys whatever the **** he wants irrespective of who's employed at the club. We aint gonna be signing anyone until a manager and/or DoF are hired so I guess Defoe can be added to the loooooong list of 'possible targets we could maybe consider if we happened to ever eventually recruit a manager and/or DoF who might possibly, potentially, maybe be interested in them'.

Ian Ayre is now the supreme commander and Emperor of Liverpool. He is running the club single handedly, and is buying the squad he wants for next season, before anyone else is appointed.
He scored 18 league goals in our CL qualifying season, and that was the only season he was first choice for most of it. 24 in 43 games in all comps that season. He also got 11 league goals this season and played in only 25 games. Of those 25, at least 10 would have been 15 minute cameos near the end. I'd estimate he scored 11 goals in not many minutes over 15 full games. Also got 6 goals in 13 cup appearances, again many of them sub appearances. £4m?
