Sorry Swords. At least Reading are living within their means I suppose.
The Scouse is revered the world over for his wit and cheeky grin, but, ironically, I doubt many Mousers will find that funny.
It's then, of course, one appreciates that, by "the world" I meant the world as it existed in the 70s and 80s, when Jimmy Tarbuck and Tom O'Conner were considered funny, and when Carla Lane was not lynched on the streets of Tory London for writing a "comedy" about a scrounging, dole-cheating family of Scouse non-entities.
They booed the National anthem at the FA Cup final last season. Half of them don't even see themselves as English. They're a right funny crowd to be sure.
Imagine if a Londoner had written that; the dippers would be up in arms.
I once posted on another thread about the difference between our national comedy heroes, us Londoners and the Scouse.
They had a comedy hero - Joey Boswell - who was considered funny because he didn't do a days hard graft in his life, and came up with ever-inventive ways of sponging and scrounging off the State.
Then there was our comedy hero - Del Boy. Yes, he was a villain, who never paid income tax or VAT, but neither did he take a penny off the State; and he was a real grafter.
And the Scouse wonders why Del Boy is revered as a National treasure, whilst Joey Boswell is considered ripe only for a good kicking.

I'm going to have to steal that comparison for future use, HIAG.

Aye and they'll still be doing so in the Championship next season! We'll stuff them tonight, then turn the Spammers over and all will look a lot better......................And Liverfool could be bottom!
You're right Robby, it is funny. But they did it a few years ago when they were near bottom too so I've heard it before!
Hoddle, the Scouse are a law unto themselves. They booed the National anthem at the FA Cup final last season. Half of them don't even see themselves as English. They're a right funny crowd to be sure.

Half are Irishmen (the thicker sort).
How do you make that out?
Hint: I may have been exaggerating for comic effect.

Watched a bit of their cringeworthy Being Liverpool doc. Everything looks second rate from Anfield to the training ground to Steve G's chavpile.
The south amercican players eat processed bread rolls and are forced to live in a bedsit while they adjust to the 'scouse way of life'. Truly embarrassing
