Of all the ingredients such as injuries, keeper errors missed chances etc that make up football I am becoming more and more irritated by the outcry for goal line technology. Today's claim for a Liverpool goal sunmed this up where in real time it was impossible to give a fair decision, but nop doubt the outcry will go on for weeks expecially in Liverpool.
We all know that wherever you are situated in a stadium governs how you see an incident whether it is a marginal offside or a foul on the penalty area line rather than inside. The ref has the same one-dimensional view than the players but he is the decision maker and whatever he gives must be within the first common sense law of the game - you have to see it to give it.
At the back of it all is player honesty like the German goalkeeper who knew more than anybody the ball was well over the line, or the diver that make sure falls over an outstretched leg etc.
