I guess Tabb out wide for an away game is a safety first approach. However, I'm more than happy for him to play CM. He's better than Hyam in the holding role I think, and alongside Skuse that's quite a strong spine. I don't get him wide left in a 4-4-2. I really don't. The defence is good. If Mings was horrific at LB then sure protect him. But it does nothing for the balance of our side. Reminds me a lot of Alan Quinn LM under Magilton. The LM spot is an issue we've had for years. Civelli / Le Pen have suffered under the curse of wide left! I hear Stewart may be going for a loan spell elsewhere - if this is the case we really could do with one in.
Agree with the thoughts, I like Tabb (as I did Alan Quinn) but not out wide left. Tabb has had some good games this season as the sitter infront of the back 4 as he actually ups the tempo from that position and contributes to the attacks. Mick don't put Tabb out wide and for me I find it hard to see if Skuse, Hyam and Tabb play really well together centrally, I think really they should all be just competing for the 1 spot DM, although Tabb in a midfield 3 could play slightly higher up. I have liked what I have seen of Sears so far, albeit from highlights, he offers something our other strikers don't and that's movement and that ability to get in behind the defence, this offers so much more room for other players and also more options for us when we have the ball. In a 442 with Murphy and McGoldrick upfront, if there aren't many willing runners around we often look very static. I could see Sears and Murphy forming a decent partnership.
By all accounts Didsy will be back for next Saturday, will that see us line up with a 3-5-2 with Didsy tucked in behind Murph & Freddie.??
I certainly hope so Hoppers and have been advocating this ever since Freddie joined us....and Didsy seems to prefer playing in the pocket.
