Not the sunderland way mate. They'll all rot in the reserves, none will get a look in at the first team, none will go on loan, and then we'll release them when they get to 21 I honestly wonder why any youngster would want to join our Academy, waste of time.
Can't watch it. The Scots always complain that people just think of them as kilts, tartan & bagpipes ....... bet they have them all through the games.
Hope so mate! It's honestly winding me up thinking about it. The likes of Laing and Noble, supposedly the next big thing, capped all the way through the England youth setup, but get no games in the first team and maybe 10 or so games on loan, then fade into obscurity (maybe coz they've played no ****ing games for 4 years?!?). Argh, pisses me off. People blaming Bally, **** that, KB can't get them into the first team. We've clearly got a few talented lads in there from the fact they've absolutely annihilated a league 2 team in a matter of minutes at the age of 17-20. There's no ****ing way you're telling me not one of these players has the potential to be a decent PL player given the chance to develop. But will we give them a chance? Will we ****.
I've just got out of the ground. It's hard not to get carried away after that performance from the kids. Honestly lads, just wow! The first goal was special, about 30 passes around the box and then the kid bent it in to the far corner. Played 'the Gus way' as good as I've seen our first team play it. Very happy and encouraged tonight
I'll guarantee some ****wit has produced a leaflet explaining how to 'speak Scottish' that they'll hand out to visitors
By the way lads, those lads played Poyet's style with confidence and ease. These kids are more than decent. They look way way way better than the seniors. Watmore was wasted at fullback, he was **** their and every time he got the ball Catts was telling him to calm down because he wanted to run at people from fullback When he did get forward he was the only senior with the abillity to stretch pools and hit the by line. Ba started well but fizzled out after 15 minutes. Who ever played Left Back, should never play the position again Ultimately the seniors don't have a Ki, nobody who can naturally play Poyets style, not on that pitch last night anyway.
it's fantastics that not only are we giving these lads a real chance to impress, but they're grasping it and revelling in the opportunity. Hopefully, bar some of the doom-mongers on here, a few of these lads do step up to first team level or get v. good loan positions to develop them for our and their benefit
Maybe, 2 sides to this... Poyet is in a no win situation. They look good against mickey mouse and donald duck...give them a chance... Now the reality of being against, the best of the best..
Don't think it's no win, comm. he can win. They won't all make it. His challenge is prioritizing those he thinks will and give them chances or loan em out. I won't be crying out for them all to be involved, and I don't see him doing a kean or Dicanio 'deep-end or dead' type maneuver.
I believe Poyet has a plan, but wether or not this is the right time, or right club, remains to be seen. There is a top class manager in there, but will he have the support to achieve it?
