As I was brought up initially in Goole I can't remember what we called it but chudding doesn't ring a bell.Must be my memory 60 years later
East Hull lads/lassies called it 'chudding' too! A farm opposite our house at Marfleet had an orchard growing both apples and pears and was subject to many "raids". My wife brought up in Millom called it 'scrumping'.
Does anyone remember the two women who used to walk about pushing a pram with dogs in it?? 80's and 90's time. Think they were mum and daughter, daughter well in her 20's or 30's? Think the mum died and i used to see the daughter still about on her own with the dogs. Very sad, they stunk mind.
Actually at the junction of Spring Bank/Bev Road there is occasionally either a young lad or lass wearing an Domino Pizza place advert. It isn't quite a sandwich board, but not far off.
I saw a woman earlier today with a dog in pram actually. Not a proper dog, but a real one...one of those little yappy things. She had another two on leads. Fairly young and looked reasonably normal apart from that
Nah it wont be her. Seem to think it was mainly round East Hull. In fact I'm trying to remember the name of the street, its now called Endeavour Crescent just off St Johns Grove. What was it called before? Thats the street she lived down.
Column gear levers. Remember them on late '50's Consuls. Semaphore-style trafficators eg.Morris Minors and Oxfords.
We had on of these Standard 8 then we got a standard 10. http://www.mothy.co.uk/images/small/lib/standard10.JPG
