Licorice sticks ? All the time to disguise the smell of cigarettes from me ma.
Used to take a few spring onions to chomp on after underage boozing sessions to fool her too. When my old man took me out for my "first official pint" on my eighteenth, when I got home ma asked me why I didn't smell of spring onions. Then she told me they accentuated the smell of booze. Can never fool your mother it seems.

Both were childhood favourites of mine from the 40/50's. Plain was 3 pence and choc coated 4 pence halfpenny. I bought one of each earlier this year from a speciality sweet shop in a town in Victoria.

Anybody mentioned comics Adventure, Wizard, Rover, Hotspur and Lion?

Dad's old pub in the Old Town - Tivoli Hotel/Tavern( demolished in the 70's). Mackeson Stout TV ads.

What about Subuteo table football and the board game Wembley? I can only find references for ebay sales. My son has both stashed away somewhere - sent by grandparents in the eighties.
