But England qualify for the highest level of competition, Ipswich............

Bah!
Yeah but against Slovenia, Malta ,Canvey Island and other such skid marks that shouldn't even be allowed to play the game so winning 8 and drawing 2 was a formality. <doh>

Only just awoken from the England induced coma from another weak, dull and barely adequate performance. But we won so it's all fine and we'll go on and win this and the next 4 major tournaments because Gareth knows what he's doing and we have so many talented youths tearing up the age group tournaments.
Why do I continue to feel compelled to watch this dross?! It is inconceivable that we could beat half decent oposition playing this dire dirge, but just supopose we could, would we be happy if Gareth bored us all the way to the final and won the thing, playing like this? Would we even notice, having got so insanely bored that we couldn't watch beyond the group stages? I guess I'd have to be happyish, winning like this has to be better than losing like this, hasn't it? Could you truely celebrate a hollow victory? Who would buy Blu-rays to show their kids and grand kids this diabolical dirge? If an NCFC side played so without joy would any modicum of success be worth enduring it? Or would we end up with a half empty stadium like the binners?

Bah!

I was being nice to England and mean to the binners, of all my recent England related posts, I thought this was least attackable!
with our group you are right qualification should be a formality, but also a building excercise to gain strength, understanding and a game plan that might take us further than the group stages at the finals, I don't see much of that.
Bah!

No worries Melchie we face Germany and Brazil at Wembley next month so results wise normal service will be resumed! <ok>

Southgate has a cunning plan, the oposition manager will play footage of our recent games, the ones that have not lapsed into a coma will be so complacent that we likely to win 6-0! That and of course we are absolutely brilliant, we qualified winning 8 and drawing 2, we're invincible!

Bah!

So the 8 hour run drawing 0-0 and winning 1-0 for an entire month averaging a goal every 120 minutes between both sides was now exciting because the shirts were different colours ?

<laugh>

Oh don't be mean about us! <wah>

I don't think any of the other British sides will qualify.
Scotland Fail
Ireland will probably beat Wales without Bale playing and get beaten in the play offs.
N Ireland will probably lose in the play offs too.

I believe England will be the only team going to Russia

Both just flat track bullies! Once we play anyone decent we get taught a lesson but not on the 22nd I hasten to add.

Flat track bullies? England! Most of the teams in our group likely felt they had at least a fighting chance and lost out in an arm wrestle of medicrety, A bully lands punches, to leave his victim reeling, not leave them thinking we could have won, that lot are timid with next to no offense.
Not on the 22nd? because we are not decent? Has mighty Mick got you believing again? or does our impending 1-0 win not constitute a lesson?

Bah!

If we're the only team going then I'm sure we'll still manage to lose to ourselves and not win.

I am actually predicting a 2-2 Desmond <ok>

I only watch the England qualifiers because it's on free telly if Sky or BT had the rights I wouldn't bother and I certainly wouldn't watch a highlights programme afterwards.

At least the media won't be building them up as the golden generation filling the players heads with delusions of adequacy, everyone will expect them to go to Russia with zero chance of doing anything and probably be proved right ,but maybe just maybe we can beat a team like Iceland or Tunisia and progress.
If they get to the quarter finals or better by playing the same crappy way I won't be grumbling.

You always go on holiday when the derby is on , wasn't it Cuba or Dominican Republic last time <laugh>

I know it's been a while since you beat us but surely leaving the country is a tad drastic?:emoticon-0140-rofl:

<laugh>

In my defence I did book this trip back in May before the fixtures came out but my eldest Son will be there in the SIr Bobby roaring the Blues on!

So the "UEFA Nations League", which basically replaces friendlies from 2019, has drawn the initial leagues. In January these will be sub-divided into groups of 3 or 4.

League A Germany, Portugal, Belgium, Spain, France, England, Switzerland, Italy, Poland, Iceland, Croatia, Holland.

League B Austria, Wales, Russia, Slovakia, Sweden, Ukraine, Republic of Ireland, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Northern Ireland, Denmark, Czech Republic, Turkey.

League C Hungary, Romania, Scotland, Slovenia, Greece, Serbia, Albania, Norway, Montenegro, Israel, Bulgaria, Finland, Cyprus, Estonia, Lithuania.

League D Azerbaijan, Macedonia, Belarus, Georgia, Armenia, Latvia, Faroe Islands, Luxembourg, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Liechtenstein, Malta, Andorra, Kosovo, San Marino, Gibraltar.

England unsurprisingly will get a tough group basically whoever they draw. With 4 teams from each league promoted/relegated, I think a good group is definitely necessary to keep in that tier!
