They are actually more closely related to cats than dogs, but they are neither, and that is a fact.

So you've upgraded from a cougar to a Jaguar, as you've realised the Cougar has no chance <laugh> Where are you getting this nonsense about a Jaguar having the 2nd most powerful bite of any mammal?

Polar Bears, Grizzly Bears, Siberian Tigers, Hyenas, Hippos, Lions, Gorillas???

There is no way a Jaguar is number 2<laugh>

    Look it up buddy.

While you're at it, check out hyenas. They're behaviour is closer to canines than anything else.

I just have looked it up and whilst most articles have conflicting so called facts as to which animals are top, the jaguar is knowhere near the top on any list I found.

Hyenas are not dogs, the only thing they do similar to dogs is the way they hunt, as they just use there teeth, and don't use claws. Everything else is not dog like. The way they look after there young and the noises they make is nothing like a dog.

Scientifically speaking they have very little similarities with canines and are a lot closer to felines.

There would definitely be a stewards enquiry if one of these turned up at battersea <laugh>

If you google "jaguar powerful bite" it produces a page full of links! Where are you looking? <laugh>

Also: "Although phylogenetically they are closer to felines and viverrids, hyenas are perceived to be behaviourally and morphologically similar to canines in several aspects; both hyenas and canines are nonarboreal, cursorial hunters that catch prey with their teeth rather than claws. Both eat food quickly and may store it, and their calloused feet with large, blunt, nonretractable nails are adapted for running and making sharp turns".

There is one article now I've looked again, though there are lots that say otherwise, like this one

    http://animals.ekstrax.com/most-strongest-animal-bites-in-the-world-in-terms-of-psi/

It's a case of which one you wanna believe, I personally don't see a small cat having that strong a bite though <laugh>

They are still not dogs, just because they are similar, you had a pop at me for using the sound of an animal makes as an example, and now you are using the speed that they eat to back up your argument.

Rick Waller also eats fast, is he a Canine? <laugh>

All pack animals eat fast, or else the rest of the pack will eat more than them. A lot of solitary animals eat fast to, through fear of another predator coming and stealing there kill. So most wild predators eat fast

So appearance is more important than actual scientific facts, that prove Hyenas are more closely related to felines, and that they are not dogs <laugh>

I didn't just use the speed they eat, did I? I gave plenty of examples.

    Jaguars are hardly small <doh>
Males can grow up to 350lbs (the size of lioness or tigress). There isn't just one article either. If you google "jaguar powerful bite" there are plenty. Try it <ok>

Put the largest Feline up against the largest Canine, put any similar sized of them both. The Feline will try to find a way out and not confront said adversary, If cornered with no escape. The Felines are usually too quick and yes they have more weapons allbeit less powerful ones.

The key word in your examples though was perceived, they are perceived to be more like dogs. Scientifically they are more of a cat than a dog. Though they are neither.

Jaguars are small in comparison to most of those animals though, a polar bear, or a hippo for example.

The largest canine is probably an inbred domestic dog, the largest proper canine is probably some type of wolf. And there is no way any type of wolf is going to intimidate, or be more powerful than a Siberian tiger the biggest feline.

There would need to be a huge pack of like 10 wolfs to even stand a chance <laugh>

The closest relative to the Hippo is a Whale. If a Lion tried to eat a whale he would die of old age before he finished it.

Similar sized my money would always be on the cat, they are just far superior fighters than canines. There generally a lot more agile, and have way more ways of attack.

A wolf wouldn't stand a chance against a cougar or a leopard in a 1 on 1 fight. Wolves though are pretty useful in packs, they ware down Grizzly Bears by tormenting them for hours

It's not an arsenal though, when the shots are coming from a guy with less meat on him than a sparrows leg<laugh>

I genuinely don't believe Lee could even hurt Tyson, a guy who is used to being hit by big powerful 200+ pound guys, and Lee's a 140 pound weakling
