I fully support his right to free speech but in his position of influence he should be more careful in what he says.

In saying that I dont think his connection to 1930's nazi Germany is a correct one.

it's the same language used to turn people against each other.
The clamp down starts with limiting ability to protest, aka the new policing Bill, then shutting down high profile people objecting against Government, then anything else they can take away from you. Stand up for your rights.

On a much lighter note, I was clearing my backlog of emails, and found some from 2009 and an interchange I had with Roy Taylor, our beloved Blue Prophet, and I choked up a bit. RIP Proph

Yes, Blue Prophet was a fine fellow, totally agree! :emoticon-0103-cool:

He was comparing the language being used. All the press and conservatives are saying he compared SueEllen to the nazis, which he didnt.

This is interesting though.

Proph still owes me a pint!

Re Lineker, to be suspended by a bloke who facilitated an £800,000 loan to the then Prime Minister takes some doing. BBC OUT!

I have absolutely no objections to Lineker voicing his disapproval of Government policy in his own time.

For me, it's the continued comparisons that he and others continually try to draw between a democratically elected body of people, the majority of which are all well meaning and a group of people from history that extolled the virtues of murdering millions.

For all the government's faults and flaws, there is a massive difference between the hate speech pedalled by the Nazis and today's conservatives getting " tough" on illegal immigration and other issues the world faces.

I note David Lammys follow up comments about the BBC cowing down "right wing fanatics" now .

It's all designed to create a completely false image of today's government...

Corbyn was an absolute left winger / communist, but for all his faults I would never draw a comparison between him (and others still in the labour party) and Stalin, with all the millions he wiped off the face of the earth...

The governments language may not be great, but the vitriol often spouted by the left to stir up trouble is often far worse but disguised as "caring"...

A much missed contributor. Always happy to take up the cause for the underdog.

And arranger of post match pi$$ ups at the Insole. Also no longer with us.

RIP Roy. <ok>

Always enjoyed talking to the Proph about music especially in relation to local musicians. It's a deep regret of mine that he passed within a few short months of us discovering that we had been known to each other for years.
Miss him.

What Lineker is highlighting is the approach and gaslighting that is going on now and what the nazis approach was in the 30s. Very accurate to my mind and something of a warning for all.

BBC could only complain if he did it on motd....the twat in charge who is doing his mate's bidding should never have been in place. And this mob holding the BBC to ransom is appalling and damaging to the BBC and UK!the
