I think we're all pretty much coming around to this way of thinking.
It will be very interesting to see what CR does.

I have just realised I picked the same team as you Col (and you picked Matty)

I am so chuffed with myself!

Got to play the inform players (if we have such), which means exactly the same as last week, Fer being out leaves an interesting conundrum. Fer created and also got into the box, those late runs always cause a problem but for me, Adel and Niko don't get into the box to support the striker but Charlie won't create like him.

Personally I'd start Zarate who will give a bit of both, leaving the rest of the team as is. Bring on Austin and Sandro on for the last 20 mins or so when we are 2 up, to stretch their legs. I really doubt this will happen (Ramsey has been brave though), I imagine Adel for Fer and Charlie for Bobby.

Yep. Although it was my second effort, after realising that I should give the players from the Sunderland game another chance to prove that it wasn't a flash in the pan.

If we are resting Austin and Sandro I would go for the team already mentioned above and play 4-2-3-1:

    ------------------------------Green--------------------------
    Isla----------Caulker--------------Ferdinand----------Yun
    ------------------Barton----------Henry--------------------
    Phillips-------------------Taarabt---------------Kranjcar
    ---------------------------Zamora---------------------------

However, should they be fit we could even play 4-4-2 :

    ------------------------------Green--------------------------
    Isla----------Caulker--------------Ferdinand----------Yun
    Phillips-------Barton---------Sandro -----Taarabt (Krancjar)
    -------------------Zamora --------Austin---------------

It will be fun to see who runs out in the starting 11 and what the tactics will be.
We could even see two wingers in Philips and Hoillet with the attacking full backs.

Would like to see Zarate start looks like handful but after writing off CR team selection I'll put my faith in him.

    -------------------Green---------------------

    Isla-----Rio--------Caulker----------Yun

    Kranky---------Taraabt----------Phillips

    Vargas---------Austin-----------Zarate

The front 6 need to constantly switch and cover from side to side, they're not set positions on either wing, they will shift as needed depending on how we can manipulate the enemy's man-cover, to throw them off.

I'm sitting Joey down as I think he is a liability in the middle and he's had too many cards, and he needs to take a break and get his feet back. He'd been flailing for a while, but with Zarate, Adel and Phillips looking better I think we'll be fine. Caulker is only in there because Onuoha is hurt.

I think I will leave it in the hands of Mr. Ramsey.

As long as we end up with fourteen players that give their all, I will; be satisfied.

    Fully agree!
But a result and 3 points would alsobe great.

I am looking forward to the game and am very intereted in our set up ans tactiics. I would not be suprised to "be suprised".

    ------------------------------Green--------------------------
    Isla----------Caulker--------------Ferdinan----------Yun
    ------------------Barton----------Henry--------------------
    Phillips-------------------Vargas-------------------Hoilett
    ----------------------Zamora/ Austin-----------------------

Only question for me is Austin's fitness. If he's fully fit then he could start, but we shouldn't take any unnecessary risks.

Not sure we've ever played Vargas more centrally behind a target man, have we? I like his pace, and being in a position to cut either side and strike rather than playing him as a winger make sense to me. He could easily fill the role Sterling does at Liverpool.

No one wants to give Doughty a start? We are allowed to take some risks now, Redknapp has gone.

Austin on the bench, he's a problem if we want to play the way we did against Sunderland.

If we stick to the 4-5-1 formation the only changes I'd make are Fer for Zarate (in the number 10 role.) And Vargas for Phillips if injured. For me Austin can't play that OBZ role on his own.

If we go 4-4-2 to accommodate Austin (Which I think is possible against Hull) Then I'd go Austin in for Fer and Hoillett for Phillips if injured. Vargas to come on for a tiring OBZ in the 2nd half.

Sandro to make an appearance after 60 mins in either set-up.

Where would you play doughty? Is this really the time for risks as you suggest?

I have no idea, I'll leave that the CR. he looks like a midfielder of some sort. I reckon Chris will surprise us anyway, perhaps SWP right back and Isla right mid. Traore in goal.
