He's been in very good form most of last season and extremely good at the business end. Calm, collected, professional, not flashy. Just what we need at DM, and very consistent to boot. One of the first picked.
Ramires has always been a Centre Midfielder he shouldn't be played out wide. He is far more accustomed and better suited for that CM role than Mikel. Mikel tends to sit too close to the defenders then there is no one in midfield to link up defense and attack. If Mikel sorts out his positioning he can be a top CM because his passing is good. Here is my line-up to play against Man City; --------------Cech------------ Ivanovic---Cahill---Terry---Cole -------Ramires---Lampard------ ---Hazard----Mata----Marin---- -------------Torres------------ Oscar won't feature in this game because he will be playing in the London 2012 Olympic final between Brazil and Mexico. But when he comes back he will start against Wigan. Then the midfield set up will change with Oscar on the right, Mata in the middle and Hazard on the left. Mata and Hazard can interchange.
I rate Mikel, good player! He was very solid in the Fa Cup semi and final, also Champions League semi & Final!
Still think we have a lot of deadwood in the midfield area, Benayoun needs to go and one of Meireles or Essien My line up would be Iva - Terry - Luiz - Cole Mikel - Essien Hazard - Ramires - Marin Torres If Luiz isnt fit then Cahill but they would be my preferred pairing for most of the year, its time we looked ahead rather than carry on with Terry in every game, CL final proved they can do the job On the midfielder issue surprised we havent just asked for Nuri Sahin on loan, the guy is a quality prospect and is available for a loan, plus would put some of our rivals noses out of joint Moses looks like nearing completion so a RB, ST and maybe a CM is all that is left
Personally I think Mata should play .I know he's been to the Olympics , but he's a fit young lad and my guess is he'd be annoyed at being left out!

As there is no Marin My team now... Cech, Ivanovic, Cahill, Terry, A.Cole, Mikel, Lampard, Ramires, Mata, Hazard, Torres.
