The youngsters will get chances in the second half of the season, as injuries kick in. They will get more benefit from playing surrounded by the old hands, rather than as part of a patchwork team with several changes. We're finally getting a bit of momentum together, and the last thing we need is to lose it with a morale-sapping defeat to a lower-division side. The only first-teamer I strongly think shouldn't start is Danny Murphy, and even then it would be good to have him available on the bench. While I'd be happy to see Briggs and/or Frei make the eleven, I think our first concern should be with winning the game.
Although it would be nice to see some of the fringe players getting a game, I will not complain if they don't..... as long as we're in the draw for the next round.
If Bobby is selected, and I for one hope he is, will he be cup tied and therefore less attractive to others in the January window?
