Santon can play on the wing too. He's better than Obertan and will track back more than Marveaux. Raylor hasn't done anything to deserve being dropped, as you have kind of eluded to in your post. I would only play Marveaux as part of a 5 man midfield to give him more freedom, something I would avoid against Spuds, to put it your way 4-4-2 ftw.

  3. He hasn't played a minute of football in the PL or in the cup, so how could you even guess that?

Just because he shows potential doesn't mean we should start him yet.

Marveaux has been nothing short of excellent whenever he's featured for us, it's time for him to get a start. We don't know if Santon will track back more.

Tracking back isn't just about how lazy or hard working the player is, Pardew will discuss tactics with the team before the game, and instruct each winger to get his arse back more often considering who we're up against.

If we were facing less threatening opponents he'd instruct the wingers to push up more often, but against the likes of Spurs he'll tell them to track back with haste.

We can't just assume that since we're playing a natural full back on the wing that he will track more.

What worries me isn't our wingers failing to track back, it's the fact that Simmo still at times pushes up the pitch far too much, and at that point it doesn't matter which two players are on our right side, because who ever is on Spurs wings will have a free run into the side of our defense, which means one of our CB's will have to push out.
