Well what did you all think of the new caterers at Priestfield today?

I went to the pub before the game, I did also think about getting some food beforehand, however, I decided instead to try the new catering at the ground (Medway Stand) before kick off.

Firstly I will start by saying, there was no problem with the servers, which was a lot more than I could say for the food!

I requested a burger at £3.20!
With onions, to be told NO onions :(

My burger was served in a bag that was sufficient enough and designed to hold to keep your food warm.

One bite and well to say it was cold would be unfair, so let's call it luke warm.

Someone else tried the pie at £3.30!
Well warmer than the burger but not much, the filling appeared less than previous pies, although the pastry seemed ok, it was served in its foil tray but not the usual plastic wrapping or even the servers available bags.

Tea - VERY hot, at £1.70 it needed to be.

Overall, tea no problem the cups were better.

Food...disgusting, this is not good enough, especially for the price being charged, next time I'll have my food with my pint before I get to the ground :emoticon-0149-no:

Now was I just unlucky when I went, your views please, including when you bought your food and where in the ground?

If anyone at Gillingham FC is looking in, please take note.
 
Worse than last season and a lot more expensive. We should have expected it. At least you could get served straight away but that was because there were so few buyers.
 
Last season was not great anyway, That is why I stopped eating in the ground, I get mine from the kebab shop on the corner of Gordon Road or from the gillingham fish bar on Livingstone circus before the game and take it in to the game if I want to take food.
 
Definitely has got worst, i didn't think they could get the burgers any more wrong but they've managed it! High price anf awful quality. Not impressed! Will be buying from Londis before i go in the stadium next game.
 
I would rather go in Londis even though he is a bit of a dick in there the bald tall man in there don't like me as I reported him to trading standards when I brought something from there and it was out of date and I went back in there and he told me to piss off with the food. LOL, he was the one who got a £1,000 fine< LOL, should check his fridge more, but I still go in there even though he stares at me, it is my local as it is 30 seconds from my house.

Hoadie - with the exception of your first six words, how is that relevant to the topic?

I'm after opinions on the catering at Priestfield, not your local Londis!
 
I am going to give the new caterers a bit of an opposite review than everyone else. Maybe me and my brother were just lucky but i had not too many problems with the food yesterday.

I got a cheeseburger and even though quite expensive, was ok. It was a bigger burger on last year, it was hot, the cheese looked and actually tasted of cheese and i had no grissle in the patte. It still doesn't come anywhere near the quality of the burgers at stevenage. They were very good.

The price is too much though. £3.30 for my burger and £1.70 for a bottle of water is going a bit high and would make me think before buying something again.
 
Sorry didn't try anything a the ground yesterday. prices are just way too expensive.

I'd love to be in charge ofthe catering at Priestfield. There's so many options that you could provide. along with the bog standard Burger, Pies, Chips, Hot Dogs etc. why not offer jacket potatoes? simple range of fillings can be offered easily enough. also when the temperature starts to drop a few choices of soup which can come with a nice bit of crusty bread for dipping? a range of pre-made salads and deep filled sandwiches are also easy to provide. Food isn't rocket science. the biggest problem with providing fast food service is young staff. You mainly have young staff who are only doing the job to get a tiny bit of money. They don't have any interest in doing it long term so the care and consideration just isn't there. They are just doing a job.

Sorry BRB I know this isn't really commenting on the food/service available at the ground. The club have a email listing of fans. They could send out a simple servey to find out what the fans want and kind of price they are willing to pay. They could also have serveys avaible at food kiosks on match days.

No need to apologise Gemini, your giving input as a potential customer and what you feel could be done to improve the catering.

My experience maybe different to someone else, such as CanterburyGill, I want to give a balanced view and you are both helping me do that.
 
I am with Canterbury on this one. Bought a cheese burger and chips at the Rainham end,
Its was bigger and contained real cheese unlike last year, the chips I think were also better than last year, the food I received was also hot, so I feel the food was an improvement but not great value for money.

heck have you guys ever been to wembley, a tenner doesnt even get you a burger and chips, same story at stamfrod bridge. yes its not cheap but atleast as has been said the quality is better and unfort its never gonna be cheap
 
Nothing compares to the sausage rolls I got at a sodden Memorial Ground (Bristol Rovers) season before last. Heavenly.

However as someone who has only occasionally bought food from the ground and not really enjoyed, I can get on board with some of the above comments. You have to wonder though what other options they can exercise? Jacket potatoes etc. are all good in theory but the likelihood of eating a jacket potato whole with your hands is extremely unlikely!
 
Not impressed at all !!! Bought a coke for one of my sons who is FOUR. They insisted on retaining the bottle cap. I wasny happy because he cant drink a whole bottle in one go but evidently he could have caused rioting like in Tottenham all by himself if left with such a dangerous item .....Capri suns in the pocket next time...unless their banned too!!

You can fill bottles up with stuff (liquids I assume) with the bottle lid and when thrown it is a lot more dangerous than a empty bottle. That is the reasoning behind it
