bcause. my no-croatian friend(sorry), i am totall worried that this amazing progress we have finally made, will be undone before it gets established.
because, there are people here who think it is ok to take on coyle or other second or third level mangers for our team
because i am fed up of finishing 11thor 5th or 16th
because we have the potential to challenge and if we sell, we are back where we were for most of the time i have been a fan
    .
in fact i am not negative, i am very aspirational and get hacked off when others want to accept mediocrity.
we are very nearly there,,,apart from the good cup team of the early 80's, we have never been so close to being a contender for proper honours.
now we could be with a bit of investment , a serious manager and some proactive fans who are not so numbed by mediocrity that they have forgotten to wish for more....
well, i DO WISH FOR MORE.

If we lose Modric (hate to see it) and keep VDV, I think we could go for 2 strikers and the team could still flourish. I'm hoping VDV will be fitter this year - with a pre-season at the club - and will step up as the attacking centre mid. In some ways I think we can only accommodate Modders or VDV. They are both great players and could live with either one. When they both play we are too lightweight up front.

    Ok.

My ambitions are a little lower than yours, I think until we either have 1 of 2 things we can't compete at the very top.

    1) A 60,000 stadium - for revenue and so we can pay massive wages and compete for players with City, United and Chelsea etc
    2) A Arab/American/Asian billionaire who is willing to pump in stupid money to see us successful.

I do agree though, it would be easy for us to go from where we are now to becoming what Villa (what a mess they are in) have become.

    Sorry for offending you mate.

no offence taken. debate is valuable.
    on the above points...
    stadium saga goes on..
why do birmingham and city and others get silly money from chinese billionnaires?
why don't they come to a team like ours where we have done half the hard work already. ?
it would be a better business model and a more likely investment/return thing.
and...we would be able to progress.
    how come they don't?

It won't matter in 2012 when the fair play rules apply, surely?
