What I do not like about Lidl is their very clever way of laying out the stock, ensuring you have to walk all the way round the bloody place instead of going to one place.

Wtf soap would be next to the bread is beyond me. Still, it's all worthwhile when you get to the till.

Don't know about Orpington, I avoid that place like the plague.

The one in Bromley always gets my business for shampoo(yep, you don't need that) detergents and deodorants(which you do need).

As cheap as the 99p shop.

I often suffer Wilko - their selection of bird food is exceptional. Sometimes I pop into Poundland to buy mealworms.

I'm not a snob. I lived on the breadline for many years, but once I began to make some decent dough, I decided never to scrimp on food again.

My milkman still managed to deliver milk on Saturday morning. Been using him for years, long before I moved from Forest Hill. In my case mainly because I can't stand all this plastic. It's hard to avoid. Before the 5p charge on carrier bags I'd take a shopping bag, plonk it on the counter, but the shopkeeper would still put the merchandise in a carrier bag before popping it into my shopping bag. I'm mystified by the fact that we keep paying for water in a plastic bottle, when tap water is so good. Sheer madness, and it's over £2 for a bottle at Charlton!

There’s a decent farmers market in hornimans Park on a Saturday now. A bit more expensive than a supermarket but the quality of the meat and veg/fruit is noticeable. Quality burrito stall to help with the hangover too.

There also used to be a fishmonger in Forest Hill where the Red Cross shop is now, and one at Crystal Palace too. Where I lived there were 3 butchers, 2 greengrocers and a dairy all within easy walking distance, now all gone<cry>. Isn't there an organic butchers in Forest Hill now, along from the Wetherspoons?

I saw a milk float no more than two months ago, I thought they had gone out of existence.

I’ve recently seen a footballer who was slower than a milk float.

Strange how The Right don't take environmental issues seriously. Presumably they think they are immune.

I had an American friend about 35 years ago who told me that the Multinationals were going to take over the world. He had spreadsheets and masses of figures to back his theory up. I dismissed it as a conspiracy theory. duh!
