They really are soulless pubs, even you would admit. Rumour has it you have a loyalty card for the Tobery Carvery ?
What’s the best food item they serve in Lidl’s then ? @SuperChrissyisfantasticPardswasatrocious is always in the market for cheap guacamole Ditto @ForestHillBilly for haggis.
Don't do big chains. Went into Wetherspoons for a Family do once. The food was processed garbage and as Royston says, they are soulless. I can understand why they are popular as they are cheaper than the average boozer. I really feel strongly that whole towns are becoming soulless. Take Welling for example, you have a few individual private shops and Restaurants. But you have Lidl's Tesco's, Morrisons, two Tesco express. This is all in a small town.
I always use Lidl's car park when I visit the shops in Hadleigh (Essex). I did pop in once to see what all the fuss was about, but it resembled a jumble sale, so I promptly left. I've never been to an Aldi. Tesco and Asda served their purpose during the mid to late 90s, when money was tight. Morrison's comes in handy for tobacco, stamps, magazines etc. I have my main shop delivered by Sainsbury's or Ocado. M&S is for cakes, chocolate, cereal, tea bags and other luxury items. Waitrose is most enjoyable at Christmas. Co-Op is for top-up shopping such as milk, eggs and bread. Iceland is the work of the Devil.
Getting this excellent thread back on track... Does anyone use the Co-op ? Used to be one in Downham ...can’t think of many others these days..
Sainsburys for me usually - the big one on Bugsby's way if I'm in town. M&S do some real nice food but as has been mentioned you pay an arm and a leg for it. I've only ever been into a Lidl once I think, there just don't happen to be any close to where I'm living. Have shopped in Iceland for cheap frozen goodies, but they pack too much salt into a lot of their ready meal type stuff (or they used to anyway).
Don't believe that. I reckon there was two giggling, middle aged men on a packed carriage to London discussing how funny it would be to start a thread on a football forum about Marks and Sparks and Lidl. Call it a hunch.
