When the crowd actually started taking the piss out of the fact our first shot on target was on 73 mins. the board knew that was the end there and then! No coming back from that. The board had obviously thought about what if the worse should happen, I believe it was a snap decision made with the fact that the SOD appointment would have a limited window of opportunity if it were to happen.
I remember a match at Grimsby in the 90's when Russell Osman was manager; Wayne Allison had City's first on target effort after 83 minutes - a typical Allison thunderbolt from 25 yards that bounced 6 times and rolled gently into the keepers hands. The City fans including me jumped up and down similar to Man U fans when they beat Bayern in Champions league final; a few weeks later Osman was gone.
It was not just that banksy, our first real effort on goal at Blackburn was after... you've guessed it, 71 mins...
It could also have been that SOD might have contacted the City board before last Saturday and had made them aware that he was interested in the job should anything happen to Del ? Just a theory...
