The one I remember getting the most stick at that time was Don Masson. Never understood it, he was a good player and a great passer of the ball.
Strange isn't it? Probably because I was young and of a less cynical outlook all this passed me by, too busy just enjoying the football I suppose. Though Givens did begin to get on my nerves towards the end of his time with us. Don Masson was only with us for a couple of years wasn't he?
Marc Nygaard / Arthur No hairy - both used to get a disproportionate amount of abuse. Though not always undeserved Then of course.....our former Spurs full back
Many scapegoats, but Langley's abuse was really spiteful. I remember him making a bad tackle near the touchline of the west paddock while already on a yellow. The whole ground chanted off, off... The ref went for his pocket and changed his mind out of sheer pity. There's also the "shoot Tommy Langley" song that got a regular rendition.
I remember Gavin Mahon being booed remorselessly, if memory serves he then scored so the f***ers then had had to cheer. Almost everyone on here and in the LFW comments don't agree with the boo boys so just who are these nasty tw*ts, what do they hope to achieve? I actually think if we give CR the season and longer we'll start to see really good things.
He did get a lot of stick when he was considered a striker. I remember us getting battered 0-4 at home to Charlton in the rain at the Bush. Think it was around 70-71 and remember Rodney wasn't playing and Leach had the 10 shirt. Loft boys gave him terrible stick all day . Leach scored for us to make it 1-4 and gave the loft the two fingers. My dad reckoned Leach always played better away from home because of the fans thing. Of course it all turned around when sexton came in; he saw what a good footballer Leach was understood that he had no pace so had him sit in behind Bowles and Givens. You have never seen such a transformation in a player. Leach was a key player in our runners-up team and scored many crucial goals.....and the fans all loved him that year!
Yeah Masson was bought from Notts County aged 28 for 100k. Was the best passer in the country 74-76. His performances for rangers earned him Scotland caps. He then got a bit shirty with rangers ' they need to start paying me like an international' and all that. Form dipped, fans on his back, Chairman Jim off loaded him to Derby and his Scotland career ended in the disaster that was Argentina 78!
I may remember this wrong but the second time Tommy Docherty was made manager, it was announced just before kick off at a game. The whole ground started to boo and a very good percentage of the crowd walked out.....even before the match started. Am I imagining that??
I don't remember that but I kind of hope it happened. Docherty was the first manager we had since I started to support the Rs who I actively disliked, and by the time he went I really couldn't stand him mainly for the way he treated Stan. Did you know that Terry Venables had a win % of over 50% with us?
We really are a **** bunch of 'fans' aren't we. Perhaps it would be easier to compile a list of QPR players who haven't been booed.
