Still missing a proper defensive midfielder to provide cover for those big games. Will be interesting see how we do against city arsenal with Mac in the DM role compared to rodri and rice.
If Nunez hadn't sat down after his miss, he could have got his own rebound and slotted home. Second time Gravenberch has mopped up. He's going to be brilliant for us.
well there is that. In the end its what klopp wants so he has to accept that frailty verses troubling them in another way. the intensity has to be 110% in those games. if we beat up the lower half sides home and away the first priority of top 4 is achieved.
LFC p3 W3 GS10 GC2 +8 pts9 Union P3 W1 D1 L1 GS3 GC4 -1 PTS 4 Toulouse P3 W1 D1 L1 GS3 GC6 -3 PTS 4 LASK P3 L3 GS2 GC 6 -4 PTS 0 We play Toulouse next away. I saw zero last night thats scary for our second string, esp at the back for them. We will then play LASK at home who will already be out unless they beat Union. the last game is then a complete waste of time v union for us. would you a) play total reserves away? b) save the kids for last home game v lask c) save the kids for the away game v union in december? Winning the games = coefficient points and it all adds up for us in terms of small prize money but also points. Winning the group would be all by secured by beating Toulouse away but would be 100% by beating LASK.
It was nice seeing a team come and try to play football against us with very little cynicism which helped make it an enjoyable watch .
I thought that. The one thing I did notice though was for all their lack of tackles, they were another European team who like to lean on or body-check the opposition. Much harder to spot than an outright tackle but the end result is the same - the opposition end up on the deck and no foul given.
I don’t know if you noticed but Elliot, Jota and Gravenberch all had nasty studs on metatarsal tackles that went unpunished. Any of those could easily have resulted in a fractured metatarsal. The ref should have warned them after the one on Elliot
the ref was dire. he was ignoring stuff totally, he waved advantage then failed to bring it back, he indulged time wasting at times, there was some real blatant stuff for both sides just totally ignored.
I just want to put this out there. If you watched the game live you might have noticed this. trent plays in line of a 4 for the first 15 or s minutes. RCB passing the ball forward. He is caught behind the line of the cbs playing the goal scorer on and IMMEDIATELY he moves to no 6. not instructed to he just moves 10 yards up the park so he can't get caught out again. For the next about 10 mins we struggled to get the ball out cos he was stood there with back to play in a 6 slot while the 3 lads were strung along the park trying to play out. I find this extremely indulgent and I do not like it at all. he was dozy being behind the cbs but chambers was the one getting criticised for running too far forward. what happened next through changed the shape and effect of the side for the worse and i do not think that is on.
What I would do doesn't matter, but what I think Klopp will do is more of the same, until the group is won at least. Second string mostly with a sprinkling of first-teamers, and big guns on the bench if required.
You’d think klopp would say something rather than let him do what ever he wants… Or more likely klopp instructed him to change position and he was following instructions. Unless you had that new klopp cam on where you can see and hear everything he says all game?
I thought there were a few bad tackles but TNT don't seem to like to do replays a lot of the time so you're just left to guess.
Trent seemed to have a wandering role which was a bit odd but that goal line save got him extra Brownie points.
Plus their commentary team is too busy bouncing off one another or advertising upcoming events to actually describe what's going on.
Yeah, but Nunez had the ball running away from him and couldn't wrap his foot around it. The Toulouse guy was set, Trent is two foot wide and the goal is Twenty-four.
