Cba to read back through all this. Someone summarise the general consensus after today pls??

Only saw the second half. Will watch MOTD in a few mins. My thoughts off of that, there are signs of life there lads but there's an awful lot of dross still in our team and it's gonna take time. Thought 2-2 all was fair for both sides. Our defending for Arsenal's second was shameful. Thought Markovic actually looked good from what I saw. Lucas looks unfit and was clearly struggling by the end. We know this already but Jones is so so weak, we'd be better off having one of those metal player silhouettes they use as the wall for practicing free kicks, at least it would be right some of the time because it would just stay in the same place.

When we attack we run into the opposition and fresh air and not into any more of our players who can do something with it. That's the best way I can put it. When we brought Borini and Lambert on (how we've got to the point where these are our main strikers is absolutely criminal and another point entirely) at least we had bodies in the area to try and capitalise on our decent work in the mid, before that it was fresh air and empty space we were aiming at. We need a quality striker in and Sturridge back asap.

Anyway, tenth at christmas, nine points off CL, that tells the story alone.

If we sign Torres I'll genuinely, genuinely stop supporting the club, there's idiocy and there's idiocy <doh>

It would just indicate our desperation and our willingness to try anything. It started with an unnecessary gamble with balotelli. Then we give lambert a go for being such an ardent supporter. Now we are prepared to welcome the prodigal son who has been an utter flop elsewhere.

    I keep saying.

Its low risk with a chance of high gain.

Errrrmmmm FFs.... If he cannot score for Chelsea, cannot score for Milan.... Exactly what is low risk and what is high gain

Paying that turds wages at maybe 100k per week and hoping against hope he somehow rewinds a clock and scores 15/20 goals in 19 games

If you want to win the lottery in general picking up an old ticket from a draw 5 years ago is not the thing to do buying a new ticket for this weeks draw is best

I am clearly in record... Even attempting to get Torres is a sackable offense

    People are strange though.

As I've said to Biscan before, a different scenery, yet a familiar one may work for him.

Playing for that disgusting lot at Chelsea must have been a traumatising experience.

A quick goal for us and it may work for him. You just don't know. Its subjective.

I say low risk as say £100k a week for 8 months = £3.2 million and we don't have to worry about selling him.

He could end up scoring say 10-15 goals. I don't believe he is now totally crap.

£3.2 mill is tuppense. It is low risk - especially if you look at the investments we've made this summer such as £20 mill on Lovren, £23 on Lallana.

Lambert cost over £4 million and you telling me he's more likely to score than Torres?

    I just don't believe that.

He's a better option than anyone on the bench today that's for sure, still the wrong option though.

If it actually happened I'm not sure if I'd be pissed off or not tbh, we get linked with him every window though so doubting it.

That ain't saying much but having seen mr Torres coming on for Chelsea on last two years frankly I think Sinclair in the youths is better option and I'd not put him near the bench

Just for the love of god cough up 30 mil and 150k for Martinez

    I take your points.

In balancing up my arguments you could say he hasn't done it in years, in a weaker league, why would he now?

And there is the egg on face if we bring him in and he fails.

But that is why he is so cheap!

Its a risk! And as believed, we have no money to spend in Jan, then I would gamble.

If we've no money in January then there's frankly no point in dooming it as mad Mario, glassidge and big wickie are enough to secure tenth anyway cos that's all we'd be playing for

Torres would not make qprs team as of today!

  17. I seem to be seeing the same comments when it comes to Torres. He passed it, was **** at Chelsea, can't score in a poor Italian league, we should aim for better, etc but also that he would better a better option than what we currently have.

So, let's look at it slightly differently. Yes, we should be aiming for better but what if we don't have the money to do that? What if no one better is available or wants to join? People have already said he's a better option than we currently have and that he wouldn't be expensive (see Bow's figures) either.

If it Torres or nothing, what would people do...?

For the record, I don't want us to get Torres back. He is passed it and I agree about the Italian league point too, but I can also see how'd he'd fit in our team too. He's a better fit than Mario, Rickie and Fabio and he can't really score less goals than any of them either. Torres always offered work ethic, movement and despite his pace/acceleration not being what it was, he would still offer more pace up top than those three too.

If it is Torres or nothing then I say lets gamble due to the potential for high gain at a low risk as I've identified above.

Imagine if he went to say West Ham or Villa and ended up scoring a few goals whilst we continued to struggle.

    Nightmare.

And sticking one up Chelsea would be nice.

    #398
  19. Yep, if that's the options available then lets roll the dice and see what happens. If it only a loan until May then it won't hurt, especially since our season is ****ed anyway. If it did work out, Chelsea want rid so we may get him cheap. If it didn't work out we say thanks but no thanks.

Still prefer to bag Neymadge mind :bandit:
