Well his only priority was Allen, and he insisted on that and he got him, he was less interested in the other two. But anyways they were the least appealing of the lot i've mentioned above. What i'm trying to say is that we should be looking at players outside Britain.
if you didn't notice all those players i mentioned were NOT British.

  3. Only Vertonghen wasn't playing in England though so its still 'buying british' in a way. I understand your point though...

Of the players you mention, Suarez and Johnson are clearly class. The others reina, agger, skrtel, Enrique, Lucas are ok but not match winners. Shelvey is not Liverpool quality. Suso is good but only 17. Sterling is young and less of a player in my opinion than suso. Sahin hasn't really been given a chance.

Been horribly inconstant. Very slow start, but considering the first few fixtures that was expected, picked up alittle since then but the underlining problem of the team to put a run together is just infuriating.
Losing one week, but playing well to be followed by winning (don't care how that happens as long as it happens) which is then followed by abysmal performances and losing to teams like Villa is just perplexing.

I'll agree that we are still in a transition, due to changing management far too often in recent history (although getting rid of Woy was good) and a few of the players are still very young and inexperienced, which is perhaps why we can't string a consistent run together. But some of the team selections and seeing the older experienced players getting bullied by other teams (like they were against Stoke) just add to the frustration.

On the owners, they seem to be all talk and not alot of action. This season hasn't been helped by a lack of clear direction on behalf of the owners. Yes they want to win (show me a sports owner that doesn't) but so far its been talk and more talk, there has to be a how about them.

Summary: too inconsistent with alot of the bigger names at the club not doing enough. And Downing has to go.

The main issue as i see it, is that we are by far to predictable. We will pass and pass ans then pass some more. This approach works great against teams who have no midfield like Fulham. we can walk it up to there area as many times as we need, and we need alot of shots to get a goal.
Unfortunately if a team puts us under pressure like Stoke we are not good enough to pass through them and retain possession in advanced areas of the pitch. If a team sits back, again we do not have the quality to pass through a defensive minded team. We end up committing to many men forward, generally on the edge of the area and get picked off on the counter.
We have not got a bad team, but a combination of no forwards and a single minded dedication to a system that doesn't suit the players we have is causing more trouble than it needs to.

i may have this wrong but im sure the saying is "the defintion of insanity is trying the same thing over and over and expecting a different result"

Worth noting that arsenal and .tottenham won again today. A loss tomorrow makes it even more disastrous for us.

    I don't think it does.

    We're not in their League.

Our battles are with Stoke, Swansea, Norwich and West Brom.

Yeah if we lose tomorrow it's game over with Spurs and Arsenal now hitting some consistent form. Personally, Top four isn't that realistic at this present time, and if their was any sort of chance we wont be able to judge 'till Febuary, once we've seen who we've signed and what the teams around us have done. If we can finish in the top 6, that will be a success. I think for now, it's important we show some progression, and some consistency.

Right now Spurs and Arsenal are both better teams than us, that's not saying we're a bad team, we've just got a long way to go. We have a great spine to our team, but it's surrounded by to much mediocrity and over priced, over payed slackers. It's about time we started to get some quality in, and get rid of the players who are here for all the wrong reasons. I'd rather have Spearing playing than Downing or Cole, at least he cares about the club and understands what it means to wear that Red jersey.

What makes you think we'll get top 6?

I see very little to suggest we'll get above 8th. More likely as we are now in 10th. Could easily see us 12th.

I don't think we will, that's why I said top 6 would be a success. I'm with you though, I see us finishing around 8th-12th, if we did finish bottom half, it would show just how far we've dropped in so little time. Such a shame, really. Still though, it's hard to imagine a club of our stature almost went in to administration, so much has happened these last few years, I just pray for a bit stability from here on in.

Unlikely we'll get Walcott now he's playing well.

I'm actually quietly confidence that Sturridge will be good for us.

Could still do with one more though.

well i think i am in the camp that has been expressed as must do better all round.

I think we are losing as our midfield is trash and he who must not be touched is playing every game all 90 mins and getting walked past.

I created the seriously underperforming category as i have to say that barring maybe a couple of players short we are a very good squad. the couple of players short has to rest at ayre and rodgers doors with thier dempsey and borini efforts. fix it this january? hope so but what about the other issues?

I predicted we'd get hammered by someone but so far we've not quite got that... stoke could be considered a battering and villa was embaressing seening EVERYONE else hammers them.

If we look at our team its got loads of really good players

    Reina
    Johnson Skertl Agger Enrique
    Lucas Gerrard Allen
    Suso Suarez Sterling

However i have to say tactically we are less than impressive. I simply don't buy this rodgers tactics stuff. Its not time to settle in and such. My opinion is there's mistakes being made in selection. Since enrique returned the defense has gone to pot. He should be pushed back forward frankly. Wisdom got dropped after his knock and this has contributed to the defensive calamity... Though it'd be nice if agger would remember to mark up at set pieces

Gerrard should not be playing so many games and he's not justifying playing every minute especially when our midfield is over run. Equally its obvious that gerrard and shelvey should not be in the same side... at least to me!

these are just a couple of examples.... i think others could get more out of this selection of players than rodgers is getting frankly. I honestly beleive that. I also think his football style is laudable but i have a scary thought that he's totally one track minded on it and is running down a dead end trying to get a barca style in the prem.

Finally.... he promised three things... sensible attacking football... penetration and finally to fight for his life to bring us success. right now i don't see evidence of any of these. tactically we look ok but constantly over commit and get caught, we've no penetration at all unless playing fulham of course and i'd like him to start hammering these players a bit.... downing is an easy target
