I haven't got any holidays left until the new year starts. I've got yet another funeral on Friday. That's the fifth this year
I've been to those that were closer this year, but he was a great guy. Latchford 'Royalty' so it'll be a massive turn-out. He was a big Red as are his two sons. When he came out of hospital and went into the care home, I gave his wife my programme from Carra's last game at Anfield to give to him. I couldn't face seeing him, but apparently he was ****ing made up. The wake after is at the Cheese. The landlady is letting a lot of people she's banned (including one of his sons) in for the day. It'll be ****ing carnage. I hope people don't take the piss. I'll be steering clear of the sambuca
Sorry to hear that mate. We had one go last week - poor bugger was clinically depressed and hanged himself from a tree in the back garden It's all a little bit too close to home for me.
That's ****. Sounds very like a mate of mine about 6 years back. He was a carer, looking after his dad who wouldn't go into a care home. He never used to talk about it, but it wasn't far off 24/7. His dad was almost totally blind and had other significant health issues. It was him who found Sammy, my mate. He walked into his dangling feet FFS. Some people whinge about **** all.
I was whimpering in my hospital bed a few weeks back after a minor operation on my nose (septa-plasty, whatever that is). the ****ing packing in my nose needed to come out, the novocane (sp) was wearing out, I'd slept two hours in the last 48, then they wanted to move me off my bed to another ward as they were overcrowded - I was sooooooooooooo sorry for myself. Then someone came in to see the old guy across the ward who was 'nil by mouth'. Apparently his spirits were up because they'd relented on doing an operation on taking out his larynx so that he could eat and drink again. He'd been scheduled to have the op earlier that day, but they'd found a new 'mass' in his chest and oesophagus and had told him it wasn't worth it as he didn't have long to live anyway. he was just happy he'd be able to eat and drink again for his final few weeks. I felt a total shibag. I did whinge again though when they did move me to another ward later and I insisted on walking rather than use a wheelchair. That showed them....
Was he ex-soldier or something? I've lost a mate through that (link), there was a documentary about it on bbc a couple of months back and he was one of the guys they focused on. I know another that had three suicide attempts from it too. I tried that after breaking my arm but they insisted I went in the wheelchair. A bloody wheelchair with a broken arm
The funeral on Friday is for the guy I've described. He fell downstairs and broke his neck. When they did the scan to check it, they found he had lung and liver cancer as well. What a ****ing twat of a discovery.
What a performance by the Indian batsmen yesterday. Top classing batting at the highest level! Kohli - best young batsman in world cricket.
No mate, definitely not. I wasn't ever really close to him, but his sister told me he was really a bit of a loner, hardly any mates, no GF/Wife etc. Very insular sort of guy and, by all accounts, insecure as well.
No, but Both says we will 5 - 0 They arrive in Perth on the 25th. First tour match against Western Australia on 31st. I thought you were away for weeks?
Got my tickets for the India test yesterday. Was a bit of a concern for a bit as the ticket queue went nowhere and I had to **** off on site for a bit. Quick look on the phone at dinner time and I got them sorted right out. Day four, the Saturday. Think it's world cup 3/4th play off in the evening so a good old session on the cards.
