Tendulkar, great batsman, for me though, the one I'd pay, and did pay to watch was Lara, both up there as the greatest batsmen of all time for me!
Test match tickets for India tour on sale for Trent Bridge next Monday. Just saying. I will be there once more. Pissed.
Both disappointed when I saw them live, I was just unlucky. I did see Tendulkar get about 90 odd at Trent Bridge a few years back but it was an ugly scratchy innings and him not making a hundred spoiled it quite a bit. Lara hardly scored when I saw him. Best hundred I ever had the priviledge of being there for was Botham getting 113 (in the teens anyway, will have to check) against the Aussies at Old Trafford in 1981 during 'Botham's Ashes'. It was truly special. I was on telly too, waving a union jack as one his sixes sailed over my head, think it was a square cut off Thomson or Lillie. I'd borrowed the flag from scouts!!
Wasn't it just? Amazing. Actually there is one better. I saw Clive Lloyd score about 130 not out in a 40 over one dayer one Sunday, off way less than 100 balls. My granddad took me and it was utterly awesome.
I was there when David Hughes scored 24 in one John Mortimore over against Gloucester in the semi-final of the Gilette Cup. Also Mike Procter bowling at full pace in the twilight
This was when David Hughes was captain! I went to a few Gillette cup games with my grand dad. We went on the bus, top times.
