Need to hope England go and bat for 2 days, get 600 and make this one a draw as no way are they winning it from this position.

For all the talk about OT being a dry spinning pitch, it's looked pretty easy to bat on so far.

    Joe Root <cough>

He couldn't get on strike, must have been difficult.

Cook and Trott need to see this through and get to bed, tomorrow is going to be a long hard day.

I expect KP to get at least a ton too.

Tasty prospect, shame about the weather.

Will they set us a getable target to make sure they have time to win it themselves?

If they have a thrash and set us 300 it might well make us go for it. Anything less and they might find they've no time to get us out.

Boycott on Rooney's tantrum: 'there's 20 pitches at Carrington, he can have three balls and play on his own, he won't be playing for England if he's not playing for Man Utd.'

Think the cons will be looking to hit around 200 in this innings if they're thinking about winning. Any more and it'll just be a case of England setting up camp when they're in again.

I think even that might take too long for them to then get the result, with the weather forecast.

I think they might set us as little as 300 and go for it today and hope to finish us off between rain tomorrow. That leaves the door open for us to actually get it.

If rain wasn't forecast the would try to set us 400.

    Rubbish.

That innings might have saved the game, well controlled and patient.

Why does broad insist on bowling so short? He's just feeding Warner (the ugly little ****)

Not been a good test for us. Unlikely we will win - although Swann just got one.

    Miles behind.

  17. No doubt its going to be difficult but if we can get them all out for less than 200 and we score similar in second as we did in first innings, it'll be close again. However, I doubt there is enough time for that. Draw still looks the best outcome.

Agreed, a draw seems inevitable now. Rain forecast in Manchester overnight and for much of the morning/lunchtime. Hopefully Australia set England a chase of around 300 and put them in, that would be a good end.

    #1198
  19. Yeah, now its been rained off its draw or nothing. Will the Aussies put us straight in tomorrow if the weather allows?

It really depends on time right? Maybe they'll try and add another 50 or something, but if they have any intention of winning they have to get England all out again and will need a while to do that so I expect it would be sooner rather than later yeah.
