I think that was just silly. you've root in touch there hammering them about and you might as well fill your boots and bring Anderson and Broad in tomorrow morning. imo England just handed top conditions to Australia for no good reason and took 50 off their own score to have a small shot at an evening wicket.
They wanted to test Warner late in the day, rather than giving him the full day to get himself in. They took the risk to try and get him on day one.
bairstow, stokes and Ali are extremely rusty looking. a lot of bang average stuff for last hours in the field and two wicket taking opportunities thrown away. broad had no ball on second ball of new ball and hits the stumps night mare. bairstow looks extremely dodgy behind the stumps. very ordinary reactions
they have decided that to combat bazz ball you go negative. they were absolutely refusing any extra runs between the wicket there.
I think it's premeditated I think they have decided to give nothing away and wait for England to make the errors. If we play bazzball then we have to hand them a chance to win the game by declaring if batting has gone well or we will be bowled out in good time for them to have a go themselves. I'd say their field yesterday and the extremely risk averse batting looks like they are willing to stick in the game and wait to pounce imo we declared massively early and while warner chopped one last night that flew leg side we threw away possible 50 to 100 runs depending on how it would go to achieve little. fine margins I suppose. Warner chopped another onto own stumps today. broad was clearly looking for it. I just think the pitch is set up for Lyon now as the day progresses tomorrow and England have to decide what lead they want and how long they need to bowl. I will assume parity regarding the score when second innings kicks off. either we go quick and get out doing it or we go quick and declare. i cannot see this lot not going at a run a ball given the approach and the aussie tactic of giving singles (this might change) if we set a total and give them enough time I think the aussies will be happy.
