Brooks just been brilliant since coming in. Say what you want about style of play etc and I’m sure at some point he’ll prob go 5-10 games not hitting 30 but kid has enormous talent.

    It’s easy smashing 100 from 60 balls when you’re 300-4 but when you’re 21-3, brilliant counter attack.

Nice to see root finally get some runs as well.

Could the rain help keep the bowlers fresh to make NZ follow on?

doubt it. not really much need to at the rate they score.

day 3, bowl nz out for 200 lead. stuck on 300 in 50 overs (actually the average run rate) then have 20 overs if rain doesn't fall to bolw them or wait for day 4.

6 an over in test cricket is madness but it's not actually that much if there's cheap runs on offer.

What's the weather due to do though? Would be frustrating if we bat again and then draw because of the rain.

Given the weather they’ve had in Nz over last few weeks wouldnt be huge surprise if it does rain more

Wasn’t expecting NZ to get 483 in the second innings. But 210 for England to win sounds doable on the last day. Good pitch for batting now apparently.

I did expect it and didn't want t that follow on.

    Why?

We have two geriatric bowlers and a cripple :)

Seriously, the trend has been established for 4 or 5 years now that if they overblown through effectiveness drops

England on brink of absolutely throwing this win away… harsh to be critical and might still win it but not looking good here

Lost it by a single run. Feels harsh to criticise given the entertainment. They were going to lose a game at some point.

in the end if you live by sword (and waffle on as fans all over the net about loving it) then you will eventually die by the sword.

people probably need to calm down a bit if they are going mad.

    hopefully not too many are.

there are always 2 sides involved in any England game and if you attack and they attack things happen

Can’t criticise England really. Could have batted NZ out the game and played out a bore final 5th day draw. We should have won, silly collapses, but this team is all about entertainment and the crowd def got their monies worth.

We’ve won more than we’ve lost with this style so long May that continue. Only worry is stokes batting, wuite out of form with the bat

A wonderful test match. Was going bog-eyed watching it, but I couldn't stop. Ultimately, it was the Brooks run out that killed us but what a game of cricket. Highly creditable down there

I ****ing love cricket and I'm a purist
Test cricket above all else. A seethingly electric match with much of what is great about cricket. An exhilarating and hugely exciting 5 day test. Who'd have ****ing thought it. Should be part of the national curriculum
