There's good news and not so good news . The good news is no team has ever chased 250 to win at this stadium . The not so good news , is it's the first time any international game has been played here
Gonna be a tight finish. See some of the names not picked up at the ipl auction. Hales, root, Morgan, Gayle. Surprised by that
I think Gayle has now been picked ? I can sort of understand Root not getting picked , utterly brilliant cricketer , but not exactly exciting in his personality , for the IPL anyway .
tbh I don't think they want anything but big hitters. root is sort of like cook. that means a 4 merchant along the ground. stokes bowls and bats big. 1.4 mil Buttler might get 100 or 0 400k Morgan is actually not hitting big enough half time time
An English father goes into his daughter's bedroom and sees a letter addressed to "Mummy and Daddy" on the bed. With a heavy heart he opens it and reads: Dearest Mummy and Daddy, It is with great regret and sorrow that I'm telling you that I've eloped with my new boyfriend. I've found real love and he is so nice - especially with all his piercings, scars, tattoos and his big American motorcycle. But it's not only that, I'm pregnant and Ahmed said that we will be very happy in his caravan in the forest. He wants to have many more children with me and that's one of my dreams, too. I've learned that marijuana does not hurt anyone and we'll be growing it only for us and Ahmed's friends. They're the ones providing us with all the cocaine and ecstasy we could ever want. In the meantime, we'll pray for science to find a cure for AIDS so Ahmed can get better. He really deserves it. Don't worry about money. Ahmed has arranged for me to be in films that his friends Leroy and Jahmal make in their basement. Apparently I can earn £200 per scene, and I get a £200 bonus if there are more than 3 men in the scene and an extra £100 for the sheep. Don't worry, Mummy, now that I'm 15 I know how to take care of myself. Someday we'll visit you and Daddy so that you can meet your grandchildren. Your loving daughter, Sarah P.S.. Daddy, it's not true - I'm watching television with Jessica and her parents next door. I just wanted to show you that there really are far worse things in life than England losing The Ashes.
It's the way forward if you want cricket to survive 5 day bore fest is not what most want to see nowdays. Of course the old ****ers amongst you will disagree lol Problem is most English cricketers don't get picked for the ipl or Caribbean tournament. Tells you all you need to know about where we are compared to the rest.
Test matches are a form of cricket that simply cannot be sustained monetarily. The reality is as jenners says. IPL and the like buy up players giving them huge payments so players will go there. They have a limited number of slots so only want the big hitters and bowlers who do well at this level. The andersons, cooks, roots etc are not wanted as with respect to them they don't hit 6s very often and don't bowl fast and slow run rate Buttler, stokes etc are sought after and I reckon would earn more never going near a test pitch then if they focused on tests The reality is 5 day tests are an anachronism now. they were perhaps more suited to the 19th century and early part of 20th when you could tool about for 5 days on a tour of rich boys going to australia to play. YOu now play day 3 and 4 of tests over weekend and day 1, 2 and 5 are half attended unless huge games. that's not optimizing the experience or money is it? 50 over ODI takes too long as well. thats just the reality. its an 8 hour game min. so if you are in work you miss half game. YOu can't tell which half of game you might see cos of toss... so... you can play t20 over 4 hours. crowd can see both parts of game... its manageable and consumable Theres nothing wrong from my point of view with 50 over games but i can see why t20 is increasingly popular. I feel strongly however both forms are strangling skill. Its a sloggers game. Bowling is fast and dirty, no finesse compared to 5 day game. rules are so constrained to aid sloggers its untrue. The minimum i want is a batsman to have to show skill as he has no clue of the delivery coming. in t20 you can basically charge the ball til you make a mistake for a catch or miss the ball. thats why t20 is of little interest to me. .
