I wanted him to get the job, as I liked what I saw of him at Soton. He did a good job for us last season as well, steadying the ship after the hapless Martinez. However, this season he's been dire, albeit the lack of a quality striker has hampered him in fairness, but he's looked a beaten man for weeks and he'd lost the fans as well as the dressing room. Tough gig being a footie manager, but I'm sure the £9m pay off will soften the blow Truth is, he never connected with the fanbase, he never seemed to 'get' Everton, and therefore his period of grace was small.
Evertonians were high as kites in the summer with the great summer signings showing Koeman and Walsh's prowess in the transfer market. I remember reading on one of their forums ''this must be how city fans felt when Mansour took over''. ..... and @Tobes he was never going to 'get' Everton or the fan base imo - he came for the money. Where's astro with his #calledit
Something has gone horribly wrong. I hope it’s not prrsonal problems that have caused this for Koeman. But Woods, Bill and Mosh were at the game yesterday and I thought it was the firing squad.
In fairness the entire media was fawning over our summer signings and the fact we'd done our business early, there were stupid suggestions that we'd now challenge the top sides etc. However, if you remember we were all pleased barring the fact that we hadn't landed a striker, we were told it was going to happen before the window shut and then it didn't..........from that moment on I knew we were in for a challenging first half of the season, as did the vast majority of Blues tbf. The fact that he came for the money shouldn't have mattered. Players and managers all move for the money ffs, but plenty of them 'get' the club who's paying their wages, they form a relationship with them and there's mutual empathy. Koeman was as cold as a fish.
This is what players can do to managers. Uncommitted and lack of desire. West ham's Bilic must surely be next. Arnautovic plays as if he does not want to be there and it is the manager taking the flak. If we carry on with a ****ty defending and finish outside the top 4-6, the once untouchable Klopp may become vulnerable. If the managers of current champions like Ranieri and Mourinho can be sacked...
It's football, he'll walk straight into another top job. He's a journeyman manager isn't he mate so doesn't stay, or intend to stay long enough anywhere to make a true connection - imo. Banter aside - it's a shame to let the fans down like this.
The club would have let the fans down more by retaining him, the Everton forums are all in celebration mode. Plenty were never having him from the off.
I would like to see the definition of a top job. We were his stepping stone. It was sloppy and I see him going to another Southampton
Sorry if my comment wasn't put more clearly. It's not the sacking of him that's let the fans down, it's the whole euphoria of the summer expectations and high hopes coming down to this. Plenty of fans were also looking at top 4 given your spending. Didn't you say your season ticket came in a box saying 'nothing will be the same again'.
Everton are a much bigger club than Southampton, of that there's no doubt but given the current footballing climate in the PL you wouldn't be considered a stepping stone from their likes atm. He came for the money and that's it. Well he got what he came for so he can move on to the next club who are foolish enough to think he's got ambition other than the Barca job. How he gets himself into a position to be considered for that is anyone's guess. He will move abroad I think to a middling to big club.
That was the previous season mate. No Blue I know was expecting top 4 this season, had we landed a 20+ goal experienced PL striker that might have been different, but we didn't.
I said it at the time. The spending was needed to keep us as the best of the rest. The ST thing is just a nice marketing ploy. If people thought by selling Rom we would get top four.......
Look... IMO everton are bigger as they only sell on to utd. its their thing. odd but true. Southampton as much as they hate it have been feasted upon but loads of clubs at the top not just us. Theres not a huge difference between the clubs right now in terms of set up but everton have the track record and more money thus far. But.... they are a stepping stone, like anyone who isn't winning a trophy will be when a club who wins things comes knocking. The thing is koeman hasn't improved the situation radically over martinez after all. I am perplexed by how the defense has gone this season personally. I do not get it.
Your just a crap version of Astro really arent you so get out of his arse and ****off back to the nut house lol
you'd nver have got it just like we were not going to. I was afraid if you got one we would see you pass us but thats for 6th. The top 4 are far too strong for your midfield and defence. The thing is.... keane might come good, pickford is good and theres a few others.
Who will be in charge for the league cup midweek? Is gueye suspended for league cup only? Will the Leicester v everton game be the first ever match between two managerless teams? (I've no idea?) I don't think everton are in a disaster zone here. Its only a few results form being as bad/good as liverpool so its early enough to just say the season starts here lads.
