Roy, Root and Butler were superb. Bowlers were still very expensive but took wickets on a regular basis because Pakistan had to push hard.
Just stumbled across a programme called "Being Kevin Pietersen". To be fair I spent a few years working around him so perhaps I am biased (because I saw at first hand that he's a twat) but he really is the bell end I always thought he was. It's always surprised me that he ever reached the celebrity level that he did and I was astonished when he was made the England captain. He was good but it was always obvious that he was a mercenary. Also Goughie looks like hell. He's been spending too much time on the piss with Alan Brazil. He's aged 15 years in 5.
Saw that advertised and was tempted to watch it... Top class player to be fair, was best all round player in terms of the 3 formats as well. I guess with that talent you sometimes get people that are a bit egotistical and get it in football with people like Ronaldo & Ibrahimovic. It's part of what makes them so good, but no doubt making him captain was a poor choice.
I heard him on the radio this morning and it was cringeworthy. He was plugging some event in Dubai where he was getting kids together from all over the world to play some charity tournament. But it was all "look at me, how great I am doing this for these kids" and came across as totally fake. Then it came onto the topic of England and why he won't play for England again. Listening to his response, it was patently evident why he wouldn't be picked again. He's a trouble-maker and his responses sounded like it. He doesn't endear himself with his constant attacks against the selectors etc.
