I can see the reasoning behind putting them in as once one goes a couple tend to follow, plus they'd left a bit of grass on specifically for us to do this so the call had to be field. The Aussie bowlers are utterly **** when faced with no runs to defend so it works that way also. There's also a risk that the Aussies being flat track bullies might go on a score well as they did at Lords though. I'd take a draw in this and a three one dicking, if they win this it'll give the perception they played ok when in actual fact they are ****ing gash, more or less to a man.
Forgot this was on as had 0 notifications coming through. Hopes that meant we had batted through to lunch but obviously doubted it... still must not moan, were 3-1 up
255/3 rain stopped play at 5:25pm. I hope they have 4 days of rain. this one is headed for either a draw or a toss up.
Yup. England better bat well.... can see this I hope being two big first innings then a draw as time runs out.
looks like the usual flat track at the oval. why do the groundsmen make the pitch so batsman friendly? its every match at the oval. flat track and a bore draw. I don't want the match over in two days but I want to see a contest.
I'm sure it will suit the aussie bowlers We need to bat for a good 1.5 days once this lot declare....
in fiarness smith and volkes who are meant to be batsmen did their jobs.. the rest of aussies didn't except for warner really.... starc is a big bonus IMO england shared the wickets about suggesting good digging in... no broad wicket.... flat track and then he's not fast enough to really threaten at times. good for stokes again.. good young player there... ali takes another 3... finn did a bit with 2. over all... over to batsmen.. 3pm... .... hmm want to bat long here.
in fairness if ingland go at 4 per over like they have been.... well we could come to end of day 3 tomorrow with an even game... not impossible so if we could ge tinto the for say 200-250 we might win it.. but its morelikely lyth throws his wicket away here with 12 runs and we have to dig in.
bbc blog Adam Lyth shows the bowler all three of his stumps before his trigger movement, which sees him cover two of them with his pads. Crouching ever so slightly he lets a couple go which are on a certain length. Trust the bounce. this true? we know what will happen next then... off stump up rooted or LBW.
