220 to win... Will need at a good start with the bowl and bit of overhead assistance.. Not over yet, but at least 45 runs short me thinks..
Sri Lanka on the brink of winning. 23 needed from 27. Lot of controversy about the Butler run out. Tricky one, he did warn him but Butler was only just out the crease when he decided to stop and was not like he was half way down the wicket trying to pinch a run. Just think the Sri Lankan captain should have said no, we don't want to appeal that one and said to Butler, we warned you once, we've done it again. Please don't make us do it a 3rd time. Then he would have had no complaints. Ironic given the guy that did it is the one with the very very dodgy action
Good catch. Always loved Freddie, top top player. Shame hs injuries forced him to retire early. England haven't been the same since, never been able to find that all rounder who could easily get into the team as a specialist batsman or bowler like he could. Him & Kallis - the 2 best all rounders of the last 10 years.
It's one of them that is a natural reaction to stivk your hand there, then wonder why the **** you've done that as you knew it would hurt! Often find it's similar when playing in goal in small 5 a side goals... someone takes a shot that is head height and clearly going over the bar but you still stik your hand up and save it then wonder why the **** you did that
I used to play in net for a five-a-side team, made no end of saves on reaction alone. Great feeling when it happens too.
Until you realise that the ball was going over the bar and all you've done is managed to push it over the fence and have to run all the way round to retrieve the ball.
Only rarely did that, I was actually a very good five-a-side keeper. Not big enough for full size nets though
Me too. Not tall enough for 11 a side. My team won the Aston Uni knock-out tournament 6 terms on the bounce. The other four were first teamers though
I thought I'd better let you all know that the first test against Sri Lanka starts this coming Thursday at Lords, totally eclipsing some half-arsed competition starting on the same day somewhere in South America
england have ****ed it up. the glory period lasts no length of time which is interesting as india did the same thing. Once does feel the organisation at the team leadership level is just so chaotic in cricket generally that it precluded long term stability. has anyone ever seen a captain of a side actually play in form for a decent amount of time... the only one i can think of is aussie.
how long did their success last but? I mean dravid compared to say strauss.... he was 4 years test captain and won 8 out of 25 matches and lost 6. he did play well though strauss was 2009 to 2012 and by the end his form was awful but he won two ashes do you guys not think that generally speaking teams take thier best player and bascailyl ruin their form via captaincy... I think a modern interesting ploy would be to wire up the players and cpatian form the stands in effect where the tv replays etc can be used. you can wave yer hands all you want to go here and there but batsmena need to foucs on batting etc. if you are standnig there thinking every ball through.. how do i get this guy out its a hard life.
