Totally agree. Why would he want to take on the aged and declining United team. The expectations to perform wonders with such dross will be so high, afterall SAF has done the unbelievable what with players like Carrick in the team.

Also, this Dortmund team has each year lost players to top clubs and each year they replace them with either players from within or buying smartly players who fit the bill. Gotze for example is gone but guarentee they will buy Eriksen as a like for like and not skip a beat. If Lewandowski goes, you best believe they will be after Draxler from Shalke or someone like that to come in straight away.

They lost kagawa, sahin, lucas barrios who were all German team of the year players and have if anything, only got better!

Anybody who saw the Chelsea game who hadn't realised the extent of the squad erosion which has gone on under the Glazers will have come to the same conclusion as Fergie: it's over. The good news for Utd fans is the Glazers won't be long in getting out now.

Who knows about the glaziers, there is a huge huge profit to be made there.

in the end utd and the whole of england have slipped in the past 5 years behind the rest of europe.... the difference between chelsea and utd is options up front. chelsea flopped up fornt and utd can run rooney, welbeck, RVP, hernandez AND then valencia, nani, giggs, young wide...

their midfield centre is average compared to other sides and if a 4-3-3 manager comes in utd will need to buy. carrick, cleverly and such are why jones fills in! then at the back they are upand down, not great either.

they are obviously better than everyone esle which goes to show the problems any english side has competing with germany, the top 2 in span can't so utd are probably 7th - 8th in europe now... shocking seeing there were 3 english clubs in the semis a few years ago..

Ferguson gone but as a shadow over the next guy either incentives mourinho or its too late for that. If moyes is appointed it may be someone who can manage the current squad in 4-4-2.... the issue is we've seen moyes have rank seasons where he's just not got it right at the back etc. is that moeny or moyes? If they appoint him my god they could blow the whole thing.

interesting times ahead for the summer now!

    The rumours are very strong.

I have not seen news today as in work bar all the pundits tributes but the rumours and talk are really strong that this is the way and mourinho is going to chelsea.

If utd do this i don't see who will take over at everton and how that strong first team will be retained and built on.... and more than that i cannot see moyes getting support at utd form the fans and i can't see him changing styles to a passing, ball retention game...

Lets see what happens. RVP will not be happy he moved for medals... <laugh> he'd have won city more this year!

I'll find it hard to hate Moyes, in all honesty, after all his unstinting support over Hillsborough since he's been at the ****e. Good thing for Moyes though is that he'll never need to whinge about decisions at Anfield again, or anywhere else, for that matter.

Not really. The right wing press are in cohorts with Man U and financially back them. Hence why I never doubted the initial Telegraph story. Plus I had always suspected he'd end when he got to 20 and they started manoeuvring Gill, Dyke and that Fry into key positions amongst the FA and PL

If it comes from Sky (closely affiliated to Man U), it's as good as from the horses mouth.

I'm not sure that we should read too much into the fact that United have yet to officially deny that the retirement announcement coincided with the discovery of three women wh'd been held as captives for a decade. Some might say that there's no smoke without fire, but until Paddy Crerand angrily denies Ferguson's involvement I think we should give the footballing knight the benefit of the doubt. :undecided:

Thank **** they haven't got Klopp to replace him! I think he'd have been perfect for them.

Moyes will have to step from having no expectations and winning nothing over 11 years to being a club who expect to compete/win in all competitions. Aside from their forwards who are quality, you have to say that United's team is pretty average; Carrick/Jones/Cleverly isn't going to dominate Europe. Their defense is aeging and not as strong as it used to be either. Fergie was holding that team together and getting some great performances out of them. I can't see Moyes doing the same...at least for a few years.

So how many games will Moyes have to win before he becomes Sir David? 6? 7? <whistle>

I don't think they will boo him, they may be a bit worried about the appointment but they will give him a chance.

Sir Alex Ferguson is the greatest manager of all time, by some distance!

Going to be hard to replace him. I'd have loved to see Eric Cantona or someone crazy like Di Canio <laugh>
