Now that Ferguson has done one - will that remove the 'Fergy Factor' and diminish utd's air if superiority? Arguably they have won titles predominantly due to his excellent squad rotation rather than individual player talent, whoever replaces him (Hodson would be my choice btw ) will struggle to emulate this. Thoughts?
You have to say he has done an outstanding job and full credit to him; he has been the best Manager in the Modern era in my opinion. Now how do they replace him? Going to be an almost impossible job that I think
It could see them go on to even more success, it's hard to call but they're in a great position and could choose from almost any manager they want bar Pep. Will definitely be interesting to see how they cope without Fergie but my guess will be that they'll still be a top team for decades to come (unfortunately).
Well, they can't be any better than they were with SAF that's for sure. It's a big ask. I genuinly feel the United squad is average yet SAF got the best out of them and they were greater than the sum of their parts. Will be interesting to see where they go from here

Absolutely, and no-one should jump to conclusions and link his very sudden retirement with Operation Yewtree, the inquiry set up into historic sex abuse cases after the Jimmy Saville scandal. That would be wrong, and nobody should start such a whispering campaign. So let us salute the greatest manager of the modern era without there being any cloud of suspiscion that thre are in any way ulterier motives and explainations at work in connection with this sudden announcement. Let's hope Sir Alex enjoys his retirement. perhaps in the same 'home' as other retired pensioners such as Stuart Hall, Rolf Harris and Bill Roache? Who knows.

he has had a remarkable career, and fair play to him over the Hillsborough situation, offering support if needed. doesn't mean i have to like him though lol, but he has earned respect. not a patch on SIR BOB, but that's just my personnel opinion, ie defending the European cup and what he achieved in 9yrs.

The greatest manager the premier league has ever seen and probably will see. Whoever takes on his role has massive massive boots to fill... The United board probably have one of the hardest decisions they've ever had to make. I wouldn't like that job after all the success Fergie have had
depends how long the new manager is given really Bozz. do utd think they are in a position where the new manager has a team ready made for him and expect instant results, or do they think the new manager needs time to build like we are HOPEFULLY! doing. their expectation level has obviously got high, will they be as patient with the new manager as they was with Fergie to start with.
