There is 2 reasons holtby is being made out to be a wonderful player 1, he is half english therefore the media automatically claim he is good, and we all know just how much the media over rate english players. 2, he is free. This being the only good thing about this signing, because there is no transfer fee involved. The amusing thing is that spurs fans have been on here in the last few days slating us for paying the likes of chamack 60k a week, when they are going to be paying holtby 70k a week. He could just as easily turn out to be a 70k a week flop as much as he could turn out to be a success, we will just have to wait and see.
For me it was always the number of player like Chamakh that you were paying big money for. Every transfer involves a bit of risk which is why every club ends up with unwanted players on big wages they struggle to shift and Spurs can hardly laugh at you for that, as I said though, it's more the volume of players you had on big money. As for Holtby I'm glad we've spared you such an average player. Perhaps Wenger thought he was too lightweight for our league, like Modric
I'm just not sure we need him fella I wouldn't mind seeing us add a real quality player to support Cazorla as our main creative engine, but Holtby isn't that player.
Exactly, I think very few people here wanted Holtby. I think he could fill the hole left by Modric for Spurs though, even if he's not as good as Modric yet. As for Arsenal, we already have Cazorla and Rosicky who are similar and better.
