I think some of your fans get their knickers in a twist when they see my name but I can live with that. Eisfeld and Gotze have been likened because they played together in the same academy at Dortmund and have a very similar style of play. Gotze is ahead of Eisfeld at the moment, but he could become as good as Gotze. I would also say that the similarities between Giggs and Bale extend further than the fact that they are both left footed Welshies. I would also argue that Bale, given the right opportunities will go on to eclipse Giggs.
They are completely different players. I can't predict how Bale's career will be assessed in 16 years time, but it would be incredible if he'd surpassed Giggs' achievements. If, at 39, he's able to pick out a pass like Ryan did for RvP's goal today, then good luck to him. He'll be a legend.
And it's reactions like that which don't help your claims that you're not a wum. Taking delight in perceived annoyance from users that label you a wum just makes them look correct. I'm not really sure what I can say about the rest, it's just a bit bizarre.
Put it this way Piskie it's like me going on the Arsenal board if you had signed him saying "we don't need him as Parker, Sandro and Dembele are streets ahead of him anyway" Do you think that may make me look a bit bitter? If Arsenal had signed him and Ramsey was being sold I predict most posters on your board would be very happy and would be saying it was a step forward for Arsenal.
But that is the point, you do not. Even when he was on the tv you weren't watching him were you, you were watching your own team. What you're trying to tell us is that the only time you noticed he was there was when the commentator said his name...and you call that basis for opinion! You're a wum and really bad one, so bad its funny! its the only reason we let you stay!
Bild are suggesting that we may be able to sign Holtby during this window for €2m. ”If a request comes from Tottenham, we will deal with it. That has not happened yet. But the willingness of our side is there.” - Schalke general manager Horst Heldt
Sounds promising, I'd rather we got him now than wait until the summer especially if Huddlestone and Livermore are on their way out.
The Eisfield is the next Gotze argument is ridiculous, similar to the Taarabt is the next Zidane argument. As soon as a player plays in the same position as a more famous, older player with a similar heritage, they are immediately pigeon-holed like that. Very rarely do these comparisons bear fruit. Regarding Holtby, I just hope he turns out to be better for us than the last Germany U21 captain we signed...
Echoing what PNP mentioned RE Bild reporting that we MAY get Holtby in this window, Holtby had an interview saying something along the lines of "For now I'm here at Schalke until the end of the season but in football, who knows what will happen?" which gives the indication that something is happening behind the scenes? With his words coupled with the quotes from Horst Heldt, I reckon we may well see Holtby in a Spurs shirt sooner than we all think. Perhaps signing him now will be an indication that Moutinho just isn't coming, a lot of ITK's on Twitter have suggested that the ball is in his court now as fee's have been agreed with Porto etc so if there's truth in that, perhaps he just doesn't want to come and therefore Levy and AVB see Holtby as an alternative (and a nice cheap one at that!) and want him in place now if our number 1 target is out of reach?
I just don't beleive this Moutinho crap, if everythings done as is being claimed, fee agreed, personal terms agreed...then where is he?? there's no mention of a medical either.
That's why I'm starting to believe what the ITK's are saying, they claim we've agreed with Porto for the fee but the ball is now in Moutinho's court, perhaps he just doesn't want to join us.
it's the fact he's in a CL campaign apparently Notso. He's got a great relationship with AVB and all the "t's" and "I's" have been crossed too (apparently) but it's due to the fact that he'll be leaving the competition, with no guarantee that we'll be in it next season either. (again, apparently) Have a read of SOS's post on currency exchange in the January transfer thread
If the player himself is undecided, what a show of faith from Porto to do all of whats alleged to sell him! just doesn't add up. Imagine if we did that to say Bale, negotiated all the monies with some other team when he hasn't made his mind up to leave!
but isn't that the professional approach which wouldn't be deemed as "tapping up"? - ask the club, negotiate with the club and then leave it to the player?
They've done exactly what I did and nicked the story from Bild. £1.6m = €2m. I'm a journalist, apparently!
Straight answer to that is yes it is, can't deny that, but there just seems so much leg work between the clubs with so little player input, again, a professional approach you could say. Also Twitter sources say its all done bar the shouting, and all the papers are saying we're trying to revive a deal with Levy warning Porto his price is less than our previous summer offer. A little bit too much contradiction, but you never know.
