Quite possibly, but I bet he couldn’t win in a McLaren or a Williams.
He would win races driving a ferrari or red bull, in any of the other cars he would, I believe be higher up the grid than the current drivers are

Wouldn’t dream of having a dig at Hamilton, he’s obviously a good driver but isn’t a lot of his success due to being in the best car?
Precisely....that's why he doesn't get anywhere near the three I mentioned. Not knocking his ability but if he was in a McLaren last year we wouldn't be having thus discussion

He has out skilled a few team mates in the same car, it’s not all about the car. He always gets an extra 10-20%.

You can’t always take what you hear over the radio for granted. I’m sure some ‘not all’ outbursts are planned and probs to confuse other teams who also hear the same radio messages. Like some tyre messages, they say they are gone and will need to pit soon , but stay out another 10 laps.

What he has achieved as a driver is remarkable, nobody thought that anybody would get near Schumachers record but he is on the cusp right now.

Schumacher cheated Damon Hill and was always given preferential treatment by his team and the FIA.

Sometimes we dont acknowledge the greatness we have and pick faults, I’m sure the Aussies French Yanks won’t with their big achievers. So let’s give him the credit that’s due.

Leo Messi wouldn't be a 4 times Champions League winner if he played for Watford. It doesn't diminish his talent.

Hamilton not only earned his opportunities at the top, he's consistently got the better of every driver he's had as a teammate, which include 3 world champions in their own right. Not to mention that it's actually a partnership and Hamilton's ability to Feedback and provide technical expertise from behind the wheel is crucial to Mercedes maximising performance.

I genuinely believe that Hamilton would have won the last 2 world championships if he had been driving the Ferrari. For large parts of each season, the Ferrari was considered to have better performance, but even Vettel (a 4 time world champion) couldn't get close to him.

I don't think you can overstate how good he is. Cars are easier to drive, but he regularly pulls out single laps in quali that rank alongside the mythical Villeneuve laps from the seventies in the rain, or drives that equal Senna at his peak. The flip side of everything getting better in terms of technology, is that a lot of drivers fade into the pack (Vettel for example) when their rivals are in similar cars.

You look at the qualifying pole lap from Singapore in 2018 and it's mystifying. A car not suited to the track, Ferrari supposed to be miles ahead, and Hamilton was .3secs faster than verstappen and 6 tenths over Vettel. Bottas in the same car was 7 tenths down. Then the wins in the rain, the gut feel that makes him demand more of the team etc and they respond.

I love how much people say he's a nob, or that he's a nightmare and petulant, when you see the way his team react to him. They love him and he seems like a nice lad, just a bit... well, let's just say, confused :)

Agree with every word.

And people pick up that he’s on the radio when it’s not going his way, and then praise Verstappen and le Clerc, 2 amazing talents but the absolute biggest radio moaners, in the same breath?

I love Lewis personally, a great sportsman, and someone who genuinely finds a way whatever the odds.

Mercedes let’s not forget weren’t especially competitive when he went from McLaren. Drivers help develop cars. He’s utterly brilliant.

He smashes Bottas more often than not, folk don’t like him as he’s a personality, and a hint of arrogance?

He’s a 6 time world champion, he earned every bit of it. He didn’t always have the best car, huge chunks of the last 2 seasons the Ferrari was faster, at spells so was the Red Bull.

Blokes a wizard. F1 is my second sport and he is one of the all time legends of it, whether folk ever care to admit it or not.

Next season is going to be incredible with the young talents and the improving McLaren and Renault. Nobody is running away with it but I’d put my hat firmly on him getting number 7, because he remains, by far and away, the best on the grid.

My opinion for what it’s worth. Well done Lewis Hamilton.
F1 and motor racing in general is boring as bat **** to me personally, not that I’ve ever seen bat faeces to literally compare it to motor racing but I think the comparison is about right.

Great F1 Driver, but to say he is the greatest British sportsman of all time is a bit farfetched.

Yeah true, but he is exceptional...if does get two more wins...

I know his dress sense is dubious and occasionally he comes out with rubbish...but I still like him..although I am probably jealous of all the horizontal jogging he gets up to.
