We've never signed a manager who was a 'top name' (ie someone who had either managed or went on to manage a 'top ten' club and had not just been sacked).who had no previous history with the club. The only possible exceptions are Hoddle (who didn't come to us for the kudos) and George Graham (and he was well past his best). The next best two are Ramos and AVB who had actually won something meaty with someone else. I don't recall any manager leaving us for one of the top ten clubs either. The only really top manager we've ever had was Nicholson who had no managerial experience worth mentioning before he took us on.
 
No the cheaper option , that will exact no pressure on the board to spend . Winning managers with years of success pedigree
are overlooked for second chances (AVB) , on the way up (Poch), grateful for the opportunity (Sherwood) all Levy yes men.
If you get too demanding , cocky, your out (Redknapp ) .

I'm not sure about that. I think it's pointless, as any manager who's successful will demand a far higher salary or will simply bugger off, or get poached by to a bigger club.
