Yorkshire, North of Southampton
Due to where we live, we dont get to see the mights saints as often as we would like, but my six year old son was compensated for this yesterday when he received an hand written letter and signed items from the legend that is Rickie Lambert. Just thought i would mention this as this not only made his day but probably his year. Little things like that goes a long way as the thought of him just taking the time to read my sons letter and reply means a lot.
 
Yeah Rickie actually seems to be one of those good people who you dont meet many of in life. When he scored against Man City i was so happy, not just cause we scored, but that the man had his first premiership goal which he deserves after all he has done for Saints. Even when we lost, i was still happy, warm inside even, because of that.
 
I can picture Rickie opening the door to the postman next week and a bag of thousands of letters from child fans being handed over in a sack. lol

I'm off to get my best crayon and practice child writing :)
 
Great story, lovely to hear. This and the Fox/Lallana stories show the players here are quite in touch and open with the fans.

Have shared it with some others!
 
Andy Surman sent me a letter and signed shirt a few years ago, which went to charity. Then a few months later I happened to meet him and said thanks. He was a really nice guy, wish we kept him.

He took the letter to school today as there was a, think its called ''show and tell'' hour in class. Teacher said he did his best to explain who Rickie was and who Southampton are. One of the other parents has said, his daughter now wants a saints shirt. Well, spose there is a few more six year olds in Whitby now know who the mighty saints are. Must say, i feel mighty fine today
 
True Story, I met pele (our one not the brazillian legend) whilst working at *ahem* a gentlemans club. I asked him for an autograph for my nephew but we couldnt find a pen. Anyway the door was busy and he moved on downstairs. I thought nothing of it till the following week when he brought me a signed shirt. I loved him for that. Even forgave him for the penalty he gave away against derby!
 
Hassan Kachloul signed my shirt once then nicked my pen <laugh>

Sharp offered to buy a pint once as well.
 
I remember always, after going on a stadium tour of FP, seeing letters like these on the players chairs. There was one solitary letter on Aaron Flahaven's seat. I can still see that letter, every time I think about it and it always brings a lump to my throat.

I am missing Gomarchingin at this threat...possibly too positive over here and than does not know what to do with that
 
I love this thread, heartwarming stuff. This is part of the ethos being forged at the club, I am sure, with the Saints Foundation and hospital visits going alongside Premier League status and training ground redevelopments.
