Not posted here for a while, been seshing my save with Cheltenham, took them right the way from the mid-table in the Conference to the Championship play-off final pretty much all with free transfers ( my record signing is Leroy Lita for about 120k, However, i lost to Birmingham, and now the board and director of football are selling all of my star players, most notably the sale of Ryan Noble, a free tansfer i got from Sunderland whilst i was in league 2, He went on to score 127 goals in 192 appearances. He has gone to Wigan for £4 million and i have been given none of the money for transfers, the board have also sold the majority of my midfield, giving me about 250k from about £5million generated
Early on, I like the changes that seem to have been made with the game engine. I play a bizarre formation with a single left-side wingback (because I'm insane) set to support, and while they've been useful for whipping in the occasional cross, it always struck me how little the left back was involved in attacks, compared to even defensive-minded fullbacks in real life. Not so this year; my first goal of the season was scored by Luke Shaw bombing into the box, which -- to the best of my recollection -- marks the first goal I've had scored by a fullback in probably 30-40 seasons of FM that wasn't from a corner or scored from 25+ yards.
Just had the joy of dumping Norwich out of the FAC in the 3rd round. A 2-1 away win, Le Fondre rounding the keeper in the 94th to score.
Yeah that's a good point - I've had Clyne score a few through the seasons and Neil Taylor has been doing the same thing now. They're getting in the box far more than on old games.
I play with two high wing backs set to automatic. Shaw and Clyne grab a goal or assist every now and then
Clyne just scored from outside the box for me. Was throwing a cross into Rodriguez and it just looped straight over the keeper.
Clyne has scored a few goals from the edge of the area, mostly from when I played him at LB, because he cuts inside and hits a screamer with his right foot.
I have stayed on as manager of Cheltenham, January window approaching i am tenth in the Championship and my top scorer is 34 year old Micheal Chopra who i got for 80k from West Ham, however i have been informed by the board that i will have around £3 million to spend in the transfer window.
I'm playing 3-4-3 as Ipswich, it's not something I've tried before but seems relatively effective. Le Fondre has now played 80 games for the club, scoring 54 goals.
Finished 6th on 73 points. Scored 96 goals. Play-Offs are Everton v Ipswich & Sheffield Wednesday vs Norwich.
Kinda ****ting it now though... we're nowhere near good enough for the PL. Conceded like 70 goals this season... Le Fondre scored 43 in 45 this season, with 14 assists. Pedersen scored 23 in 45 this season, with 12 assists. Shelton scored 22 in 39 this season, with 13 assists.
I start the season against Manchester City. I am expecting absolutely nothing from this side. A lot of youth and little experience.
Hammond is good. As soon as I got him back from Brighton I made him captain and played him every game. Steven Davis was rubbish for me.
