Having told us all season that “the top 6 finish” was the Holy Grail....Seriously Silly Bollox has moved his goalposts again.
Is there a hint of criticism towards the Duchatelet regime here? When I posted earlier this evening that our play-off hopes were now over, I did not expect those words to be echoed and backed up by SR on the forum which has set its face against the vast majority Charlton fans in its dogged support for a hated and discredited regime of liars and incompetents at CAFC. At last they have seen the truth of matters. The feeble side-swipe at CARD is a token attempt not to lose too much face in a single post, but nobody is going to be taken in by that. And the grumble about social media is embarrassing as usual. But beyond that pro-regime background noise there is a real shifting of ground here; A frank and plain admission that Charlton are not good enough to make the top 6. Stating that Robinson is not the issue, and our failure again this season is down to lack of first team investment by the Club. Admitting that there is no hope and conceding that the best thing to do now is 'cut a deal and move on'. Sounds like the apologists (some of them at least) are suing for peace. Most welcome and long overdue. Perhaps Royston and Elfs might be willing to meet a delegation from ITTV aboard a railway carriage at Charlton station to discuss an armistice. In the meantime the real enemy - Duchatelet - shows little sign of surrendering. It appears he will remain disinterested to the very last. His place of dishonour is already secure in the Club's history books. Now even the last few of his most loyal followers are deserting him.
More boring ****e from Seriously Anal. WTF is the model? I thought we were a Football Club. Mundell as you state Experimental shows a 25% chance of making the play-offs which is down from 40% in February. On the one hand that's progress compared to last season where we had a 10% chance at the end of January 2017 which then vapourised. But, as you state, our expected goals is bang average and we simply cannot perform against top 10 sides. So our chances on the model might improve after the next two games? But after that we meet the likes of Plymouth and other top sides, they will slip again. It's clear that the model looks at the season as a whole rather than taking account of more recent form. Hence Plymouth's chances are not high. However, whatever the perceived errors, it still offers a very good graphic showing likely outcomes. One might map the development against the mood on message boards and it wouldn't be a surprise to find some correlation? Similarly, the bookies have dropped us from evens to make the top six down to 2:1. Time will tell how the next five games evolve. We've all seen Mavididi and Dasilva - if they both return before the end of March that might change the odds? Other than that it looks like our chances will drift further downwards. That's a real shame given the last couple of seasons. For their has been potential to say that we had taken a clear step forwards. At least we had real hope for much of the season - that makes a change!
He has got an absolute fixation on players “about” to come back from injury - as if they were Messi & Ronaldo. It’s bordering minor mental illness with SR now - he just can’t admit that he has called it wrong on Duchatelet.
After our 0-0 home draw with Fleetwood, I can suggest a new target for SR and the Apologists to concentrate on; Charlton have 10 games left this season to gain another 9 points. Those 9 points will mean we finish this season with 61 points - one point better than we managed last season. For the apologists this is absolutely vital. It will be concrete evidence of an improvement over the 2016-17 season. Undeniable proof that we are heading in the right direction.
Just had a scan of ITTV to see what Kev is saying about the crisis. A new stat ? A graph maybe ? Let’s see where we are on Saturday even ? Nope - just “Saturday should be a right laugh”
The club has to continue the journey under new owners. If they give too much credence to those who RD refers to as the Azijnzeikers then it will be interesting. We need popular but not populist decisions. Time will tell. Read more: http://intothevalley.proboards.com/thread/22265/slp-says-powell-aussies-kewell?page=2#ixzz5AfBEAptS It looks like the famous "let's see where we are" has been replaced.
I’ve seen it suggested on Charlton social media this week that RD allegedly has certain preferences when it comes to the origins of buyers ...
Now hearing there has been a hiccup. Another party - don't know who - would have appeared to come back with a counter offer. So we could have two bald men fighting over the comb again, FFS
If the announcement of the take-over is going to be made on Monday it is far too late for any 'last minute' hiccups. Either this counter-offer story is not correct, or the take-over was never going to be announced on Monday. The former explanation may be down to a wum somewhere thinking it's fun to further agitate fans. The latter explanation means we are all still being lied to. I'm believing nothing and trusting nothing until it happens.
He was. Very evasive but he said he was there to support Bowyer. Had a cheeky 5 with him and the old man. Didn’t talk about RD, and the only thing on the takeover was that he hopes it’s sooner rather than later.
