Tomorrow sees the start of the 2025/26 accounting year for the purposes of PSR, so hopefully there will be some actual transfer movement rather than these endless media rumours.

Speaking of PSR, what is happening with all the charges against City? All forgiven?!

The premier league. ^^^^^^^^

We should just sell the women's team to ourselves for £100 million and crack on.

Like pretty much anyone else is allowed to do.

That would be perfectly legal in this current climate. INEOS Group could also pay us £1bn for stadium name rights.

It could happen, United seem to have a habit of copying our nefarious financial doings, even the stupid ones.
Giving Pogba away to Juventus for free, then buying him back a couple of years later for £90m, then giving him back to Juventus AGAIN for free another few years later was straight from Chelsea's "idiots guide to football financials" playbook, right up there with buying a mediocre keeper for £72m, then selling him to your local rival for £5m a few years later.

Let’s face it, football as most remember it will fade into something completely unrecoverable now that Americans and the Middle East are in bed over the controlling rights.

Soon, players will be playing 82 games a season with unlimited changes allowed during games. They will claim that it will prevent injuries and burning out.

If this Club World Cup tournament is anything to go by, it'll be a while yet before the yanks get their way in our sport.
The turnouts have been ridiculous

Absurd greed! As much as the money men want to get everyone watching some sort of football all year round, it appears people enjoy their breaks away from endless entertainment.

They may not even care so much for turnouts and drive the ticket cost down to near zero. They can use baseball model whereby tickets to some MLB games go for as low as $4, but the league itself still makes a killing through broadcasting rights and merchandise.

Is anyone even watching this?

I haven't watched a single second, I'm just not interested. Don't know who is still in it, no idea.

It's not because United aren't in it (I will definitely be interest in CL & EL football next season) , it's just such a crass money dripping bullshit tournament that is genuinely not of the true football ethos.

**** FIFA.

June & July are not football season, bar International tournaments, keep the **** away from club football. It used to be August as well, but that summer month has long since been invaded by football.

To try to keep club football going 12 months of the year will ultimately kill it. I'll be gone by then, hopefully.

My team ARE in it, and I have only been watching highlights to see what Delap looks like in our team. Couldnt give a **** about the trophy or the "prestige" of winning.
I only really want Chelsea to get as far as they can for the prize money if I am honest.
If we got knocked out in the quarters I wouldnt shed any tears

The prize money is actually the problem. No one understands the requirements to qualify which reduces the credibility of the event to zero.

The implication of this is that it enables corruption in broad day light. It’s happening everywhere. Golf as an example.

We are now in a sports world stripped of principles.

Aye, I originally thought it was because both Chelsea and City had won the CL in the last few years, but then I saw Juventus were in it and they havent been anywhere near a CL final in 10 years, so I am confused

And why are Dortmund in it? What have they won?

Atletico? Why them?

Why are Inter in it, when Atalanta won the EL last season?

Two Portuguese team, why's that then?

It's literally made up as they go along and then they expect everyone to give a ****.

Utter, mikey mouse, rubbish. No one gives a ****.

I'd rather watch the women's Euros, which is saying something.

Well yeah, except the women's Euros part.
I'd rather watch two cockroaches **** than watch the womens Euros, but yeah the CWC is bullshit by every metric you can fathom.

The supposed plan to get CR signed up with one of the participating teams just for the duration of the CWC says it all. The bald headed bastard at FIFA is dragging the game through the dirt in pursuit of cash - just like his predecessor.

Anyone still labouring under the illusion that we are still ' a big club', a club still able to attract top names need only look at Arsenal's seemingly successful pursuit of Gyokeres. Seemingly a shoe-in to team up with Amorim, the reality is that the player wants European football, and who can blame him. As usual we will be left picking up the scraps and crossing our fingers that all goes well next season.

He said he wanted champions league football, we don't have it, so he goes elsewhere. So what?

It doesn't seem to have bothered Cunha or Mbuemo, both of whom are actually tried and tested in the premier league, unlike Gyokores. I thought the days of us paying silly ages to attract players was (rightly) over, yet we now seem bothered we can't 'attract' Gyokores!

There will be other options out there, it remains be seen if he's even that good.

The thing that is truly getting on my tits right now is that we have five players who have handed in transfer requests, yet still expect to be in the squad and paid.

What the **** is that? if you want to leave, **** off and leave, and take your stupid salary exceptions elsewhere.

You know full well that we need a proven striker - the one position on the field that costs big money to fill, so whoever we go for will cost over the odds - and who is available - a bunch of also rans in Serie A (unproven also). Most likely is we'll still have Hojlund up front in the vain hope that our new signings will provide more chances than the outcasts.

We do, yes.

But, as per the middle line, there will be other options. He's hardly the only centre forward out there.

In this instance, if he wants to play in the Champions league then I'd just as soon we don't try to 'attract' him with another ludicrous salary.

The problems with that are before our eyes in Rashford and Sancho, we can't now get rid.

(although I hope we don't just end up with DCL ffs!)
