Means that we'll probably target another centre half now, De Ligt or Branthwaite, and maybe even sneaky bid for Toney?

Any midfield signing would have to be free or swap. So Ugarte swap with Sancho (please!!) or Rabiot for free.

Just as soon we keep Casemiro myself and make do with who we have.

I must say that Casemiro looks up for it this pre-season. He's been sharp, quick on the ball and looks much fitter than this time last year. Whether that is just to put himself in the shop window remains to be seen, but if we keep hold of him I think we will see a much improved performance this season.
 
Can't help but think that some of the targets we are reportedly chasing aren't necessarily what we need. I would prefer that we bought a proven striker rather than building a ten-strong back line. Last night's game against Liverpool showed up our lack of attacking threat (once again), especially with Hojlund beginning to show that he is 'fragile' to say the least, some of the papers are suggesting we go for Toney and I must say I agree.

I do think we need to get another centre half though.

If McTominay is sold to fund one of those purchases, then maybe Rabiot on a free?

That's it though.
 
Ugarte or Rabiot is a huge improvement on McTominay.
Yoro is a prospect, Varane was at the end of his best day's.
Don't know much about Mazaraoui, but I do know that AWB is never an attacking/overlapping right back, although a good defender.

I'd say all will be upgrades. Otherwise, what's the point.

The strikers will get no service if we don’t build from the back and into the midfield. Obviously Bruno will make a massive difference when he returns. By playing second grade defenders, we only put more pressure on the midfield to compensate. This is why we need two solid ball playing centre halves as the backbone of the team, then go from there.
 
Overall, the system is problematic, it has no identity, and ETH is the culprit! Anyone that says they have great confidence based on what they’ve seen so far in the preseason is either lying or in denial.

Again, we will get to the point whereby we think players coming in will improve the situation. But as it happened last season, the difference is often short lived because there is no certified method to the way the team plays.
 
News seeping out that we will keep a reduced scale of the present OT should the club opt for a rebuild. A capacity of 30k with two tiers removed makes it quite likely that we will end up with one stadium morphing into the other, something a bit like the Spursy rebuild.

Trying to picture where the new footprint will be, and how it would work?

Genuinely can't see how taking down a current upper tier helps anything.

Yeah, I kind of imagined that, so not like the Spurs one at all.

They could basically carry on with the build and then would need to close the Stretford End at the end, and use the other three sides.

The last bit closest to the current ground could even be done over summer, with clever steel calcs.

Still not getting how taking down the upper tier of the current ground plays any part BTW.

I would imagine it has to do with planning/construction costs. It would appear that this would be where the women and academy teams would play. All together, knitted through history and all that bollocks.

I drove through the stadium in Tottenham the other day and I have to say it is magnificent. If Spurs managed to do that in that crowded location, then it should be possible at Old Trafford.
 
Spurs were quite clever in that they bought up parcels of land of a number of years through shelf companies owned by the club so they wouldn't have to p[ay extortionate rates, the other benefit was that they could play at Wembley during the final phase of construction.

I know this is absolutely a no, but Abu would love United to play in their shyty stadium to fill it up for once! lol
