Can someone explain WTF is going on........ its the first day of the window and we've put in a bid on a player that we actually need, a player who isn't over 40, and a player nearing his peak, not past it. WTF

Who are we signing anyway? It feels like the old United again. Linked with everyone but never signs anyone until desperation creeps in and we end up paying huge sums.

There's a tournament on, which does usually delay things. The Branthwaite one could be sorted though, as he's not there.

Seems a bit paradoxical this though as they are refusing to be held to ransome, which you usually also object to, so is that not a good thing?

I completely agree that we should never simply pay the bs “United tax”. We have to move away from that. If Everton are being unrealistic, move on and let them try and sell the player to the next.

This is also why we should always have plan b.

Olise is another one that I thought would have been a really good one for us but apparently he’s now off to Bayern.

For a club that publicly suggested that all its players on the transfer list, the silence on either selling or buy is quite ironic.

We shall see, I guess!

Perhaps the new strategy is to say nothing, just let the press do their usual bollocks and have us 'interested' in every player on the planet, and all the while have targets in mind with negotiations going on behind the scenes - so pretty much as normal......

Would quite like this to happen. Always been fond of Ruud and he's been a decent coach in Holland.

Tbh we need new blood on the coaching team. Fed up of looking at McLaren sat on the bench. He looks tired, useless, and a bit of a dinosaur.

I saw that earlier, very promising.

He'd be assistant manager, right?

McClaren is still a decent coach but should just stay as that, head coach or something.

I think we've ditched the whole 'manager' concept - ETH will be the talking head for matchday/media etc but his job and that of his staff will simply be to coach and select the matchday squad, all other facets of the job will be handled by other grown ups.

RVN would be an obvious upgrade on McCarthy but I imagine he would only take the job if he didn't get the Burnley post.

Naming rights for OT apparently up for discussion. Such a commonplace thing these days I'm not that bothered honestly, so long as Old Trafford remains prominent in the name.

I like the idea of bringing de Ligt in to replace Varane - a straightforward swap. At just 24 he should give us a few years of stability beside Martinez in defence. Not sure about the other mooted signings, don't know enough about any of them TBH..

I think if we get Branthwaite as well as de Ligt, that's a great window in itself.

Then a striker. If not Zirkzee, then go for Toney.

That would do.

We keep Casemiro, no need for him to go, at all.

Left back maybe?

With no sign of Maguire moving on and Evans/Lindelof seemingly staying put I can't see further reinforcements in defence with Shaw and Malacia hopefully staying injury free in pre-season.

As you say, a striker and midfield reinforcements would help us on our way.

Rabiot and Ugarte being mentioned in midfield. I don't know anything about Ugarte. Looking at the Euros though, we should have signed Sabitzer and we wouldn't have needed either.

I guess Mason Mount becomes a new signing also, given how little he played last season. Surely he will be fit for pre season!

I think we should sign up Amrabat as well, a very useful squad member.
