I think it could also be his confidence in Ole to help him develop and also build something at United. Looking at the club at the moment, especially the last 7/8 games and the debacle at the end of the season it could put a question in some players' minds. If we were in the same position but Pep in charge he may feel differently than he would with Ole?

It's all hypothetical I suppose because we have no idea if we're really going for him, or if he does/doesn't want to come.

Just to add to that, if that was to be the case the answer is NOT to offer more wages. Either he wants to come or he doesn't, not because he's being offered more money ffs!

Ole is quoted as saying -

He says he is actively scouting the transfer market for players who fit the mould and traditions of the club.

"You have to have a certain kind of attitude about you to make you a Manchester United player, you have got to have the qualities and our fans want to see exciting players. Of course we want to get up from our seats. We want to see defenders who defend like they're doing it for their lives, that's the most important thing. We've tried to educate our players and our kids to be proper people. In my view, the best players have always been the best people. It's always been in our culture. You have to have that work ethic and we're scouting the market, trying to find the right ones.

I'm excited by the whole project, I know it's a great responsibility being in charge of this great club. It's a big responsibility, but the only thing I can promise is I will do it to the best of my ability. Keep supporting the team as you've always done. Keep believing that when we come back, we'll give everything to get back to where we belong. Next season, we'll start afresh and I can't wait to get it going."

    And Woody said -

"After a turbulent season, everyone at Manchester United is focused on building towards the success that this great club expects and our fans deserve. Preparations for the new season are under way and the underlying strength of our business will allow us to support the manager and his team as we look to the future.

The season that has just ended clearly didn't end the way we hoped, finishing in sixth place and with a disrupted managerial change part way through,"
However, Ole and the squad battled back from mid-December to put us in contention to qualify for the Champions League next season, but ultimately we came up short.

"While the last few weeks were disappointing, we are delighted to have confirmed the appointment of Ole as our manager on a three-year contract, and to have recently confirmed the key members of the coaching team. Mike Phelan, Michael Carrick, Kieran McKenna and Mark Dempsey will all be remaining at the club.

Everyone at the club - the board, the manager, the squad and all the staff are resolute in our desire to get United back to the top of English football. We continually look to improve staff on and off the pitch to achieve this. The strength of our business means we have the financial resources to continue to provide a solid foundation for backing the manager and creating success on the pitch. This, as ever, remains our number one goal."

Stick YNWA on the end of that and it's a proper delusional rant that even we could be proud of.

@Matth_2014 what players do you want us to sign this summer?

Neymar obviously but apart from him.

I think @Matth_2014 would deem an approach for Griezmann as acceptable to him, as top red.

Griezmann, Neymar, Van Dijk and Guardiola and we won’t accept anything less.

3 Year contract for Ole? Wow.

He should never have been handed the job. I think he'll be sacked by Christmas so another season in transition for you awaits.

Not sure he will, there seems to be a general acceptance that we need a proper restructuring and rebuild.

I hope they genuinely believe that, he should be given absolute backing in this and the January window and see where we end up next season.

The fact is, it's only City and Liverpool who are a couple of years ahead of us. The Arse, Chelsea and Spurs aren't.

Going to be a big summer for transfers all round with some major teams rebuilding, United are better to identify domestic targets this summer and stage one of the rebuild, avoid all the European bollocks.

    Unless selling of course.

It would be a lot quicker this transition if you lot were still in the PL mate, **** knows what we are gonna do with Jones and Young now.

We've served our time with your cast-offs. You'll have to find new mugs now.

Newcastle like cheap ****ty players. Try them.

How many new signings are you genuinely going to make? Possibly Maguire and James at the moment. Going through the exit - Herrera, Mata (?), Young, Sánchez!!! Then there is the enigma of Paul Pogba. I have always thought that Kane will end up at United. Maybe not this summer but next?

Well I would suppose City now targeting Maguire as Kompany's replacement means we'd better look elsewhere for **** sake!!

We'll end up going for Koulibaly, who will be 50% more expensive and 100% more ****.

    Twice the wages as well.

I don’t see any reason to look past Toby Alderweireld for £25m if we can’t tempt Maguire here. He’d be infinitely better than Smalling, Jones or Bailly alongside Lindelof.

The lad from Newcastle is an interesting one, he’s looked fantastic from what I’ve seen of him but then he’s done his ligaments in his knee so will he be another crock?

I'd like us to have that big wrecking ball at centre half as well, Maguire would be that. Got no issue with Alderweireld, he's genuine class, but he'd be as alongside Maguire (and Lindelof) than instead of.

We need two in, minimum three out, and bring back a loanee or two into the squad to sort out the central defence positions.

The Newcastle kid looks a decent prospect. Again though, if we're losing Pogba as well as Herrera, we need some ready made replacements in addition to these prospects.

Can't blame Maguire if he chose City. He is a perfect replacement for Kompany and would walk into a team perfectly geared up to win a third league and add the champions league to it.

Shame Pep can't get a tune out of Stones, Otamendi and Mangala instead though!

I’m not overly fussed if we don’t get Maguire, I think if he has the option to join City I’d rather he went there than for us to blow City out of the water with wages again. De Ligt is the one every team wants to buy so if we are offering stupid salary then just use it on him.

Woodward will **** this summer up again though, regardless of what we read in the news. Last year Zlatan said United were going to do something special, then we bought Fred. It’s horse ****, until that **** is dead or gets sacked he’ll wreck our squad.

    Crazy isn't it?

All the top teams in Europe are fine tuning their squads with the players we need to rebuild ours.

    We're ****ing years behind.

All because Woodward, with the help of various stooge managers, has pissed money up the wall on marquee 'shirt selling' signings.
