If there is any good to come out of this it will be that we sign Van der Sar as DOF

11 minutes of our new full back playing as a left winger. Just what we needed <laugh>

I agree and have always maintained that the clubs situation lies solely at the feet of the Glazers, with Wooward complicit, but I don't see how it can all be down to Woodward throwing Ole under a bus?

As if signing Sancho is suddenly going to make Maguire a player again. Really, how?

Ole wanted Maguire and he wanted Wan Bissaka, he got them, both suddenly look dreadful.

That's nothing to do with Woodward.

De Gea has gone from best goal keeper in the world to a liability. Nothing to do with Woodward.

Signed van der Beek, plays Pogba instead, nothing to do with Woodward.

Dan James was signed, hasn't kicked on or improved. Nothing to do with Woodward.

We needed to get rid of 'dead wood'.

So Lukaku, Smalling and Ashley Young left for **** sake! None of them were dead wood.

So did Sanchez, finally, but we've still got Rojo and Phil Jones for **** sake, both of whom ARE dead wood. Is that also Woodward fault?

What is Woodward fault is we are scrambling around on deadline day, in the final hours, desperately trying to sign players. That's all down to Woodward.

Ole shouldn't be tripping it out that he's happy with the squad if he's happy with that though. He should have the balls to say he's not happy.

You could be right, that seems to be the thing this window. It's splashed across Skysports as they've "signed" him.

It's so bad we can't get rid of the actual dead wood. Chief is right about what a fcking mess this is. Get rid of players who can still do a job and be left with a lot of dross who will never play a game again.

Our central defence is well and truly fcked this season.

And part of the problem is who's in front of them... Matic and Pogba ffs. And Fred still isn't showing enough. It's like offering invitations to the opposition to pull our cb's pants down every fcking game.

All that and as has been said Scott McT getting less and less game time. I thought he was developing into a bit of a "box to box" player 12 months back but without that he was still growing into a pretty good DM, agression and passion coupled to talent is what we need and are sorely lacking.
That's also why i am pissed off with us buying a LB of all things, we have Shaw who is adequate for most games but more importantly it doesn't send the right message to williams. That lad is young but shows more than enough to hold the place and has the aggression and passion i have mentioned, angry little ****er on the pitch and rarely smiles unless we score <laugh>

Most clubs are Trebs. We can't shift Rose for love nor money and any other players we're trying to sell are only wanted on loan deals. Though to be fair we've exploited a couple loans ourselves. Mad market this time around.

As for your CBs, I thought ours were gash mate. Maguire and Bailly make me feel a little less stressful with Toby/ Dier/ Sanchez.

What's the deal with Donny though? Thought he'd go right in your XI, he carrying an injury or lacking fitness or something? Quality player.

Williams is also defensively solid. He may venture forward but he gets back quick and wins the ball back. Watch him any game and he does it time and time again.

I think with McTominay we kind of forgot about him when the results improved and we went on that unbeaten run with either Fernandes + Fred or Fernandes + Pogba. Yesterday I was genuinely hoping he'd be in that midfield, especially when I saw Pogba and Matic in there.

It's the wages that stop the dead wood being shifted and the wages don't come worse than ours.

I don't think either Maguire or Bailly are bad centre backs individually. I honestly think they're good enough to play for United (perhaps Bailly as 3rd choice). But each need a stronger cb next to them. Neither are leaders either. Add to that average or disinterested defensive midfielders in front of them and poor coaching and ALL you're doing is knocking their confidence, knocking their confidence, knocking their confidence. You could take VVD, stick him in there and you'd get the same result mate. Guaranteed.

We should've bought Alderweireld off you a season or two ago tbh.

I like Maguire, crazy fee you lot paid but he's a good CB on his day. Never been impressed by Bailly though tbh.

Yeah a good DM always makes a difference. Hojbjerg's done pretty well for us so far, thought he was excellent yesterday, said on our board that was the best individual performance I've seen from a Spurs player in a long time, hope he can keep that up.

Mate the time you lot were properly linked with Toby was the last good season he had. He's been gash for about 18 months now. I'd give him to you lot for free nowadays just to get him off the books. Can't even get in above Sanchez and Dier - and they're **** as well. Our best CB at the moment is Tanganga and he only returned from injury midweek against Chelsea.

Well you're doing something right. Hojbjerg was excellent yesterday tbf. I doubt he'll get that much space and time in other games, but you beat what's in front of you and that was supposedly our best mf we put out so he did what was needed.

I said it on the Matchday thread a couple of weeks ago, the quality of defences in the Prem is piss poor all round.

I question how good it is in Europe as well.

You look around and seriously, it's slim pickings.
