He told Betfair: "It sounds as if Benjamin Sesko had two clubs to choose from in Newcastle and Man United. One that won a trophy last year and is now playing Champions League football this season - and one that didn't win anything, finished 15th and had a dreadful season.

"I understand that Man United are a huge football club, not so much a huge football team at this moment in time. I get it. I understand it. It looks as if, by all accounts, he prefers a move to Man United. It's disappointing again from Newcastle, another target it looks like they're going to miss out on and I said it about a week ago, it looks as if it's been a disastrous window for Newcastle."

These so-called analysts like Shearer still don’t get. He is choosing to be ignorant to the fact that just because you qualify for Champions League does not turn you into a force.

I would expect an ex pro to have a bit better understanding of the game than this.

Yes last year (and previously) we were **** but now the new manager has had half a season to look at what is needed.
He has already had the chance to show many of the players what he wants from them along with guaging who is capable of carrying this out.
He has now had the chance to add players he thinks will fit the team/system and had a full pre-season with them whilst telling a few bad eggs to **** off.

Why should anyone judge the coming season on the back of the last one, let's hope we have got it right now.

The calculation they are all making is that we will get relegated and Newcastle will likely win the league this season. Such a foolish perspective of using last season as an indication when all evidence from the summer thus far suggest that Newcastle will like struggle this year, especially if they lose Isak.

Newcastle support seem to think that because they got champions league they are suddenly this big club attractive to players.

And that we finished 15th, once, makes us the opposite

They all need to give themselves one massive collective head shake. They've won a league cup in the kast seventy years and qualified for a CL they won't progress in, everyone can see that.

Players can also see that us finishing 15th was more the exception than the rule, it's patently obvious.

They've a way to come yet. Newcastle are only big in their own town and their own heads.

We obviously had the cash to go for Gyökeres, so either Amorim didn't actually want him or the player was set on playing CL football. Either way, this is proving to be an excellent window, especially if we can strengthen in midfield and get a replacement for Onana - Donnarumma would be the icing on the cake.
