Deep joy, Maguire will not be joining West Ham, the deal is off and he intends to fight for his place at OT

Looks like Maguire is staying again. We can’t sell decent players for any decent fee. We can’t sell the club. We seem to be experts at being incapable!

Was always going to be difficult with his salary, West Ham could never afford it.

Maybe they'll take McTominay now instead, he's on ****e money by comparison. They could afford that.

Looks like Maguire will stay, so he becomes a member of the squad and needs to get his head round that.

Up to him to play his way inot the team, or to be first choice reserve ahead of Lindelof.

Need to sign Amrabat, that's way more important based on how shoddy our midfield was on Monday. May foucus one or two if we do.

If McTominay is sellable, then they need to be looking at this as we got peanuts for Fred.

What’s the wisdom in selling Fred for £10m? Kinda shocking! A full international player that is 30 years old should command a fee of at least £25m.

With how we played on Monday, we would be foolish to let McTominay leave without a belter replacement.

I think we have to sell to get the replacement though.

Or it would be preferred at least.

I would rather we sell Mount ahead of McTominay TBH. Not impressed before we bought him and less so since he's been in the side. Suddenly we are unbalanced and hesitant in midfield whereas last season it was the one area we had sorted once Casemiro arrived.

Surely he should be given more than one game to prove himself?
And this is from someone who DOESNT want to see him do well!

He was crap in a number of pre-season games too. Headless chicken racing here and there trying to impress but crowding out our other midfielders and being out of position most of the time. I'll give him a season.

Without player sales, we can't make any further signings, signings that will hopefully be an upgrade on the players they replace, so why are the club just not taking what they can for the likes of Maguire, VDB and McTominay when there is a clear imperative to improve the squad. Another season with an inferior squad could cost us dear, even a CL place 24/25 which means possible targets now might be lured away by other CL clubs. We need those signings now, hanging around until the club is sold in the hope that more funds might be available isn't the answer.

Modern social media world of football, what can you do?

Apparently Kane is a failure at Bayern as well because he was unable to turn their charity cup game into a win a matter of hours after signing.

    Absolutely ****ing mental.

What has social media got to do with anything? I’m not sure why you revert to that with every differing opinion on a player. It is lazy at best!

I am in complete agreement with GF’s assessment of Mount. For the record, I don’t have social media accounts. But I surely do have good set of eyes with some brain fart to translate. I watched most of the preseason games and Mount was largely useless! That is a fact and not my opinion. He didn’t even provide a single assist. I cannot remember the last time that a so-called number 7 looked so lost in so many games.

I sure do hope that things get better for Mount because we need every single member of the starting midfield to be functional. But my fear is that his introduction is currently impacting the midfield setup. Hopefully ETH can find a working solution but in my opinion, we should have never brought him in.

This is clear indication that we are still not where we need to be at the club. The strategy for onfield first is still wonky.

I said when we signed Mount and Onana that they would not be adding anything meaningful to the performance of the team. Onana is not going to create goals that were lacking so much last season, and Mount was clearly not an upgrade even from the get go. I compared him to Sancho and he was not any better in overall output. So why not find a place for Sancho in the starting line instead of bringing in another player that is similar to Bruno?

Onana is a goal keeper whom we can’t definitively say that he is better than De Gea, but I understand why DG had to go. So it was more of a like for like replacement regardless of these modern keeper stuff that everyone is going on about. The sense of urgency should have been there in those early days that we needed to solve the midfield production problem.

That is the challenge right now. We need to demonstrate that there really is a strategy to our madness in that crowded midfield that has limited width. We will need to make some difficult choices in tactical selection starting this weekend. Over to Mr. ten Haag!

Well, if you’re counting not606 as a social media platform, sure! That’s fair if you want to be mathematical about it. But this ain’t exactly the classic definition of social media that is filled with influencers and followers with unoriginal thoughts.

Manchester United say no decision has been made about Mason Greenwood's future, which is still the "subject of intensive internal deliberation".

Everything is a fkin farce at the executive level. Even when in control of all the levers. Just horrific!

This is why it is so critical to get rid of the Glazers and reset the decision making process at the club.
