By the way, as already pointed out, we've not even signed Amrabat.

And would you even know who he was if I'd not mentioned him a couple of times a few pages back?

    No, would you ****.

Might I suggest that we won't be playing all our midfielders at the same time.

For one thing I don't think the rules would allow it <laugh>

I ultimately don’t think Mount will add any real value to the midfield of last year. I want to be wrong, so we shall see. It’s not to judge the player, but that we already had either equal or better players in the team.

As I mentioned Mainoo, I’d rather see him in the team than Mount.

I said the same about Antony last year when he was signed. Not many people will say that he’s worth the money we paid for him a year on. This is why we always end up underwhelmed with their performances and unable to recoup anything we spend on players.

It all remains to be seen like all new recruits. We all live in hope.

But I have to admit that whenever I’ve seen mount play for Chelsea in the last few years he’s contributed and impressed me but last season he’s been in and out of the first team and his form has been erratic.

A midfield picked from Casemiro, Fernandes, Mount, Amrabhat is exciting.

You can include Eriksen, Mainoo and Pellistri in that as well.

    Happy days tbh

Just when we were all thinking that our midfield options might be a little stretched, the papers would have us believe we are going in for £50m-rated midfielder Romeo Lavia. Thank god for that, I was getting a bit worried.

I think it's bollox. If you need to get clubs to increase offers just start quoting United are in for them. That's all that's going on here against Liverpool.

Tbf I doubt Livpl will fall for this bullshit either.

Funny you asked that.. I actually did some decent homework on this. Jadon Sancho who had similar indifferent season to Mount last year, overall was more impactful when he had his chance. Sure, it can be argued that Mount was playing through a terrible season for Chelsea on a whole.

The point of my argument is that Mount is not necessarily needed when you consider that Sancho and Antony are already competing for minutes. He won’t start in place of Bruno and if we get Amrabat, it starts to get interesting especially when you consider some of the players coming through, I think the money could have been better spent in other positions.

Critically, it’s important to know that my thesis has nothing to do with Mount’s ability. But rather, that other areas of the team needed the investment than the crowded midfield.
Where would I be without you, My Chief?! I’m going to send you flowers for your contributions to my knowledge. :D.

On a real, I do remember him peripherally from the World Cup. But obviously not to the level of true understanding of his effectiveness until I watched a lot of his videos on YouTube.

He just can't handle the spotlight.

He's not alone in that, there have been a good few who can't thrive at United. I don't think he's all that bad, he's just a rabbit in the headlights.

Another to get off the books though.

he couldn't hold a place at Everton as well though .Could just be another one who couldn't handle PL but he has had plenty of time to get used to it .

Maybe he just can't perform at United a big club, or a debacle of a **** one like Everton?

That's true, I'd forgotten he went there.

****e manager though. It probably needs someone who knows what the **** they are doing to get a tune out of him.

Or maybe he is just ****e after all!

Not even Jesus could perform under Franky.

    I'm being facetious, of course.

I'm with Chief that van Der Beek as a player is perhaps not as bad as people make out. He hasn't had enough chances at United and his timing at Everton did not help because alongside playing for Lampard, he had major injury issues which most people tend to overlook. He only played 7 competitive games for them scoring 1 goal. How anyone could use that as a case of opportunity and failure is beyond me.
